About the Mena Suvari thing, it´s even grosser to discuss the morality of lusting for her because we as the viewer have all the background she gave till the virgin revelation, that she was wanted and abused since her early age (played by her as sexual experience), even with some - I think - sincere moments talking about how older men looked at her.
The point is, Nick believes Lester would have been cosmically rewarded for sleeping with the girl, and that he was cosmically punished for not.

The quote near the end of the clip is even more disgusting:

"But he did the "right thing" <uses air quotes> and because he did the right thing, he dies. He fucked it all up."

It's obvious. He views morality as a impediment and not a good. He's hedonistic.

But he's a Christian, dear reader... honest!

But then again it comes from the mind that thinks Cabin in the Woods is about true horror... the funniest thing on that clip is he mocking the rubes that think the movie was fun because the tweaker killed zombies or something while he is completely off the mark.
Unlike American Beauty, I actually liked Cabin in the Woods. I must've missed Nick's review of it. Which is probably just as well, because I am sure whatever he said about it is mind numbingly stupid.

It ABSOLUTELY wasn´t... if you read any econ historiography, Marxism as an econ doctrine is a completely separate offshoot, it´s not even a branch, it didn´t spawn anything. What people retardly call marxism in econ nowadays - and only retarded people see marxist economical doctrine anywhere - is hardcore Keynesian theory (everything is Keynesian in some degree tho). His Value theory is completely whacky, marginal value is absolutely prevalent anywhere, and his formulas were tautologies.
His overwhelming influence is philosophical.
It was a shit offshoot but the only logical conclusion from Smith at the time. Marshallian revolution didnt happen yet. Hes a retard for other reasons (Marx - Mises too) and communism is retarded (as are the libertarians who follow Mises for similar reasons)

Here you g
Holy shit, just watched in full and this clip is so revealing of him... beyond the utter resentment about the wife, he thinks Spacey´s character prepared his daughter for life - after completely absconding from it on the second half of the movie, everything that happens to and with her is independent of his ego trip.

Also, the notion Spacey has everything figured out after quitting his job, getting his severance package - that would go for a year, tops two - working a fast food job and buying a muscle car is very niggerish and telling: It´s Rackets LITERALLY ME movie but he actually "literally meed" it without going for the drive through teller job - because that would be too tiresome - and way more gay sex.

The Communist Manifesto is a pamphlet.

Capital is a three volume work of serious economics. His politics was somewhat off beam (though he couldn't have known that at the time -- the politics was speculative utopianism) but the economics were a serious contribution to the field.
"Capital" is a work of serious economics that is responsible for my third-world country insisting on failed economic policies to this day. Very serious, but not as you may think.
With the benefit of hindsight, it seems like it was obviously retarded. But was it any more retarded than the Austrian school that was equally retarded and just as flawed? I don't think so.
Austrian economics seems to be faring better for my Argentinian friends than this Marxist nonsense being implemented in my country. I hope you and your family will never have to live through hyperinflation to understand the devastating effects Marxist economic decisions may have on your life. I hope you won't have to experience this being implemented in your country, as it can be very appealing politically to ignorant masses.

It's very telling of Nick's mindset.
"It's ok that I'm going to abandon my family to become a degenerate. I've prepared my kids for when I leave. I'm a great dad, just like Kevin Spacey."

I noticed this thread has a "blackface" tab but not a "nigger" tab.

There is absolutely nothing Marxist in the Brazilian economy; PT´s program is old school Keynesian.
Our current Minister of the Economy is a Marxist. Every previous Minister of Economy from PT was a declared Marxist. What are you talking about? I won't trash Rekieta's thread about my shithole politics, but live here for some years and understand the real intricacies of our politics before spouting nonsense from your ivory tower.

This is no true Marxism. But strangely enough, these policies always come from self-declared Marxists.

No, he is not. He is a self-declared Keynesian from the Unicamp school of Economics; I´m Brazilian, dude, all my archives have Portuguese in it; we dont have central planning of production, price controls, we are monetarists, have floating exchange rates. There´s absolutely nothing Marxist in the Brazilian economy.

Holy shit, just watched in full and this clip is so revealing of him...
Yes. That's the point.

It's not just that he had a half-baked take on a movie. Plenty of people have done that.

No, it's that he had a creepy as fuck take on a movie that informs the listener who he is as a person. He looks up to the Lester character in every way except that last scene where he feels Lester was clock-blocked by his own morality.

By morality. Nick's choice of word. Not mine. The man who would later double down and say principles don't exist.

Is it any wonder we're here now?

And also...
"It's ok that I abandon my family to become a degenerate. I've prepared my kids for when I leave. I'm a great dad, just like Kevin Spacey."
...we're probably not done yet.

It´s even funnier that he basically emulated his arc, from the aloofness to quitting (or half assing after getting the beg from Rumble) his job, buying a muscle car - but since he is a homosexual, an updated one with all the comforts a queer may want - and living a life of leisure.

He doesn´t only look up to Lester, he thinks he is him. Maybe some friend of his oldest sparked it as well.

That's definitely it

He started really obsessing over American Beauty at the start of the spiral. I guarantee he was using it as a way to justify his behavior because he thinks that American Beauty is pro-leaving your family life to be a degenerate

"I'm looking for the least possible amount of responsibility."

Nick: Look Rumble, just let me do whatever and pay me money.

buying a muscle car
Lester did it better. He bought the car he always wanted. I also like the 1970 Pontiac Firebird.
