As someone who doesn't frequent this thread and am only visiting from the headlines on the front page, I don't see anything where Elon Musk is outright saying "I am deverifying people who disagree with me on a thing". I see a screencap of Elon Musk saying that spam is bad. I don't know if this is a failure to properly convey what's going on here or not, but from an outside perspective, I'm being linked to what looks like schizoposting and biased jumping to conclusions. What am I missing here?

Call me cynical, but this lines up with what I assumed would happen.

"Free speech" gets promoted on X, Elon helps Trump get elected, and now that they don’t need those people anymore, censorship will ramp up again, probably worse than before.
This Elon meltdown is just used as the start for removing and throttling problematic accounts.

They were and will never be on your side.

Trump is the trillion-dollar spending bill and Project Warp Speed guy from his first run, and he has told everyone, even before taking office, that he basically won't do any deportations. He won't even fix immigration issues at the border, but he will increase legal immigration.

Trump is the even more mass immigration candidate.

I figured Elon and Trump would eventually break up as Trump obviously doesn't give a shit about him beyond his money and his capacity to increase voter reach through X, but I figured it'd be 1-2 years into the Presidency, not before he's even taken office.

God damn Elon is a fucking retard, but the jeetposting everyone was doing over Christmas was well worth the self-immolation of X and Elon. It was like a glorious pressure release valve.
