Since my previous thread kinda-sorta turned into a soft megathread, and the tech layoffs will continue until morale improves, I think it's better to group them all together.

Anyone who doesn’t want to return to office should have gotten looked at by a psychologist or psychiatrist, get a diagnosis, request accommodation for their invisible disability from HR, have their doctor fill out the request form, and the ADA forces the employer to let you to work from home indefinitely. If they retaliate or you even suspect retaliation, you can just alert the feds. Make the broken system work for you.
My previous job was at a large tech company and they wouldn't give exceptions for legitimate health conditions/family leave let alone for muh mentals.
 
Yeah, good luck with that, Pajeet. Indian men are only slightly above black men on the dating hierarchy. White women just don't find them attractive. In all my years of working in tech I can think of one single instance of an Indian man-White woman pairing, and she was the kind of woman you'd expect to see with a black guy.

I now people shit on Agile (with good reason) but having a meeting every meeting asking "What the fuck are you doing" and "What is blocking you from doing your job" helps with the full WFH crew. Pretty easy to find out when some one is bullshitting.

You shouldn't need a standup meeting to unblock yourself. Ideally your employees should know to get help from who they need, or to ask in a public channel for help.

Standups is an attack vector for inexperienced managers and product to micromanage. If you have standup lasting more than a few minutes, it's likely because someone's micromanaging everyone's progress, or some product person is using standup as their way to figure out what every engineer is doing.

Third option is that there is no scrum master to put their foot down and stop standups from turning into tech design meetings. At least on my team that's been the #1 reason for bloated standups.

Those visas are horrendous for pay. They tanked pay in the sciences. Now every American in tech will need to fight against 1000 curry bros with fraudulent CVs.

As has been mentioned in this thread, in the 90s in the UK, all of the UK-based call centres shipped their work to India. They never came back.
