Tom, legitimate question here: why do you continue to fall for this shit?

Any self respecting salesperson who wants to do business with someone wouldn't just jump at the first person who says "I'm a cutter" without knowing their creds, or without meeting in person for the first time (though tbf I can't say I'd blame them for not wanting to do so), or taking a good look at their portfolio.

I can't reply to your comment for some reason, but this is why the majority of your business ventures fail: people know your worthless gravel could be found in people's driveways, or they can find better versions of the same stones from people who are actually legally qualified.

(Also I'm not even an expert on the stone trade, I just know this is how it goes for exchange of ANY good)

I think you're misunderstanding.

Mickey really has mined stones which are part of a collection on display at the Norville museum. The collection is listed as the Greg Arbizo Quartz Collection and that is who they are on loan from. Mickey is listed on that collection and the information about where they were mined checks out with the information which is publicly available about Mickey's mining activities.

It may even be that the collection is for sale. The question is whether Tom has simply assumed that Mickey owns the collection and is salivating over the possibility of a large commission. Tom gets the wrong end of the stick so often that's a distinct possibility.

Mickey seems to have a good reputation and is part of the local lapidary community. He has nothing at all to gain by trying to scam Tom and I don't believe that's what's happening.

The Dunning-Krueger Effect is running thick in here today with the rest of you broken brained bozos too.
What percentage of your soup came from a dumpster?

The problem with Tom's sales pitch with he doesn't market his stones correctly. Sure, they're breathtaking to behold, but he really needs to focus on their supposed mystical properties. Always bring up their magical nature right off the bat, especially to law enforcement who might be intimidated into backing off once they know what your stones are truly capable of.

What are we thinking? Tom was playing his horn on the street and started pawing at Mickey's daughter when she stopped to help the cat that she heard dying? She saw a hobo dumpster diving and offered to buy him a meal?

How did you worm your way into this situation, @Miss Tommie Jayne Wasserberg?

0% i haven't been dumpster diving in years.
"Mickey and I don't need to use facebook to communicate and i'm friends with his daughter."
How old was she when you became friends?
at least 35
Do you mean when you ask about the Greg Arbizo Quartz Collection? Mickey may have mined them but they're on loan to the museum from Greg.
they're business partners.
How are people going to know to contact you if they want to buy Mickey's stones if he doesn't tell them? It's not like a lot of people looking to buy stones read your pages.
we're still working out the details. basically he's going to feed me pictures with specifications and an asking price which will be listed in our catalog. i'm putting in for dealer status at mindat. mickey has at least a ton of material he's mined from a historic mine and he does a professional job of cleaning specimens. without the provenance, the material is worth $50-150/lb. with the provenance, there's no telling what kind of offers will come in from a site like mindat.
All the best business deals are always discussed through someone's kid. Is Mickey's daughter some bleeding heart who took pity on a crazy old tranny and now you've concocted this fantastical business relationship out of thin air? Well, I guess Mexican brick smoke in your case.
i'm not discussing anything with his daughter
So, when is Okoth (who is totally not scamming you) going to ship those stones and tools over to you? 🤔
either this week or never. if he has been scamming me, he deserves oscars for his own acting and directing scenes with a fake family and friends and completely faking a car crash, with hospital stay and impounded vehicle.

mickey and greg own the collection jointly. the asking price is 7.5 mil - totally out of my league, unless i am dealing at mindat, which i'm applying to do.
he and I have worked several shows together. he isn't doing rapa river any more because it's simply not profitable enough for somebody selling high end cabinet specimens. i do reasonably well there because i sell the shit out of the low - mid range stone to the metaphysical, lapidary and jeweling crowd, but not so much , because tyo doesn't do any advertising, so the store buyers are spent out by the time they get to us.
I like how he talks about the Dunning-Kruger effect with total obliviousness.
there you go, underestimating my competence while overestimating your own. standard DKE behavior, son.

Faking a family an easy task over social media though? I'm also guessing this supposed car crash and hospital visit has either "delayed" the time before he sends you these tools or has increased his asking price? Sounds like a pretty standard scam to me. When you ask for a status update this week, there will be a new excuse for why he can't get them to you.

Isn't a catalogue just a bunch of pictures and specifications of merchandise with the listed price? So this dude is going to send Tom his catalogue and Tom is just going to slap his name on it. Is that about right?

That makes sense. I know there's at least one high end gem show, though.

He could surely ask one of his family members or friends to send the goods if he is bedbound.

Tom's African associates seem very illness/accident prone.

What's more believable?

Sneazle is running dozens of sock accounts and staging a worldwide organization on multiple platforms to destroy Tom's successful music/gemstone/fish farming operations?

-or-

Some nigger in Africa set up a few Facebook pages to scam a retarded white Jewish American man into sending him money?
