Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

the desire to deliver a good story rather than a propaganda hackjob for the JSDF
The story was written by a JSDF soldier, iirc.

I don't think the JSDF/Alnus groups have taken the imperial capital, unless I'm forgetting something (irregular TL releases can make things hard to remember), and the forces in Alnus are currently on the ropes due to the empire sneaking in transforming berserkers while forces are low due to a planned withdrawal for Earth-side political reasons.

Drama Queen is unpredictable, I'm surprised they're already splitting the main characters up. Definitely didn't see that coming, but I wonder if it'll last. So far my only major gripe is how the chick manages to eat so much so fast, it's way too unrealistic.

The befriendings will continue until moral improves.

I never watched Vivid, the whole expanded cast was just weird for me, it went from standard magical girl story into militarized magical girl corps.
The later seasons of Nanoha suffered from cast bloat. It got so bad that most of the old cast just turned into background characters, especially in Vivid.

The same thing happened in Dog Days, which was made by the same people as Nanoha. It got so bad in the third season that they apologized to one of the major characters in the last episode for barely having her show up.

Bro Danmachi Season 5 just got delayed till spring in the middle of the season because JC Staff went full retard and tried making 8 anime at once. My heart is shattered down to zero.

Oh, right, can't believe I forgot about him.

On the topic of Dragon Ball, I'm gonna complain here. Daima has been really good so far but the new episode created an annoying continuity error with Super. In it, Vegeta uses Super Saiyan 3, but he couldn't do it in Super. Unless they explain it away later it's gonna bug the hell out of me. It was still pretty cool to see anyway, it was a great fight he used it in.
It's bullshit and Toriyama never remembered his stuff. Just be glad we can have some decent quality Dragon Ball (not great, but decent/good-ish), that's quite a lot nowadays.

Nanoha is returning:
I thought it was canned. Glad to see it's happening again. Maybe they're retelling Force.

That's not really a big deal to me considering how blatantly derivative Japanese media is and how Western cartoons have had a long tradition of stealing from Japanese stuff. Half the time, we make the Japanese stuff even cooler, like with Transformers and certain Power Rangers seasons! See below:

Yeah, aging up characters and making it a weird militarized organization was also a weird decision. It wasn't even long running enough to justify it.

It's interesting that Nanoah and even Cardcaptor Sakura disappeared from western anime fans with only Sailor Moon and Utena staying due to nostalgia and lesbians. Hopefully a new season doesn't make the usual suspects discover it.

Nanoha is the one with the two moms right?
She's one of the two moms actually

I think it was done pretty well. Not the deepest military/political work ever but solid enough to give you some interesting situations and tidbits. The series really went more into the magical warfare territory as time passed, the time of its latest chronological entry makes it even more obvious by replacing the "Magical Girl" in it with "Magical War Chronicle".
