Path of Exile

"That mana flask from Deli is pretty cool, I wonder why it's so expensive. I'll just go get it myself".

Oh.

Just a single item with a +skill level mod makes a huge difference to dps.
Which is a bit of a problem if you consider what GGG themselves said:
How do we define overpowered? Basically it's a situation in which a certain skill is so powerful that players feel no other method of playing the game is viable.
Of course, +skills isn't exactly a "skill", and it was always "mandatory" on gear anyway, but we're trying to pretend this is a different game, after all :stress:.

Has there been any updated on when the other classes will be added?
In 2-3 months.
I only play zookeepers in any ARPG and they are always, always the niggers of the game. PoE2 seems designed from the ground-up to stop necromancers from necromancing.
There is going to be a skill that let's you utilize any defeated mob as a summon. Or at least that's what they promised back in the day. But PoE 2 has good enemy variety, so some time will pass before this is added. I've never enjoyed a summon build in any ARPG though. They're just never build with minions in mind. I mean, I enjoyed playing falconer in last epoch, but it's hardly a summoner.
Bosses are fucking GRUELING, AWFUL. I hate fucking Dark Souls and I know this is just Dark Souls.
Getting 30ms boots pretty much makes dodge roll nearly obsolete in map boss fights with proper positioning. I still use it from time to time if I fuck up, but I could live without it. It provides great utility on lower levels though.
Also Sanctum is the new lab I heard and Sanctum was already the worst thing in POE1
If you farmed Sanctum in PoE 1, your entire build was made specifically for Sanctum, and it was pretty fun. In PoE 2 most players don't build their character with Sanctum in mind and that's the problem. You build up your defence to not care about getting hit by shit mobs. Sanctum is unplayable without 75% honor res from relics and the first few tries for an avg player is just farming them.
The fact that shitters, who can't dodge for shit, can't build for shit and have garbage gear and expect to faceroll, cry and bitch about this game, that makes it more enjoyable.
Yeah, this is a noticeable problem in this thread. While I still consider endgame to be pretty unforgivable, I can imagine a lot of people here have like 0 chaos res and non-capped ele resists with the only dmg mitigation being like a 30% armor or dodge.

kekw they've reused so much stuff from poe1 that you get a favorite map slot for completing a t18 map

Do you think they’ll do a server wipe in the future?
I don’t like the idea of losing my progress.

I hope this will be good.

I worry it will have worse monetisation than a gacha and dark soul rolls, with a 0,00001 drop like Diablo had.

Oh well, cheer up Dear Leader. It is still a beta.

I hope not
I don't wanna imagine going back to level 1 as a class i already played
That's the life cycle of ARPGs though. But early access characters will just be moved to a separate league on release, although afaik they've considered releasing separate league already in the next update in 2-3 months, too, to give the players opportunity to start with fresh economy.

It already is. The foundations are really good and while it has it's problems, I have hope for the future. Only monetisation is like a 30$ investment into stash tabs, but if you buy EA you get 300 points anyway so it's like "free", since you're going to need to spend this money anyway if you plan on staying longer. You can drop money on rainbow wings if you want, but they don't change anything gameplay-wise, so. Rolling is balanced. Drops can be a bitch, but that's ARPGs for you.

For anyone struggling with map sustain, the solution is this:
1. Go for waystone quantity in atlas tree (obviously); allocate unstable energies (easy 300-500%+ waystone drop chance or, if you can handle it, corrupted infusion - this can yield up to 1000%+ waystone drop chance
2. Use your best rolled waystones on maps with a boss - I wouldn't really use a waystone below 300% on them.
This way you can easily get 3 waystones from a boss alone. Probably like 2 more from other mobs you kill on the way.

I’m up to Act 3 and having a lot of fun but won’t be able to play nearly as much when I return to normal routine.
ARPGs are new to me and losing my blind ranger build will be disheartening.
Fuck guides, what’s the point in playing, you can always respec if you get completely stuck.

I used my 300 points to buy some premium, gem, currency and essence stash tabs, cosmetics are a trap reserved for the lost.

I'm pretty sure Raise Specter was a thing in the Closed Beta but got scrapped last minute before the EA release because it had issues.
I don't know if it was causing crashes or they couldn't fix the balance in time, but they had plans to allow Specters of all monsters in the game, including bosses. Fingers crossed.
I haven't played minions yet, but I miss the ability to have an Animated Guardian, it was pretty cool to be able to repurpose cool unique effects on this free extra party member, even with the downside of potentially loosing all its gear if it died.

I have to eat my words a little on the separation of 1 and 2. I originally thought dividing the campaigns into separate games was just a bit of a cash grab - two leagues at once, two sets of MTX, two sets of money! - but I'm genuinely struggling to see how they would have been integrated.

The encounter design is nuts compared to the first game. Short of fully remaking POE1 with the new animation rigs, abilities and so on, there's no way in hell this would have worked. That said, the mercenary in 1 would be fun....

Yeesh, I really hope they do a pass on combat readability. Just fought the Yaga Baba boss, and couldn't tell whose spells belonged to who. Fire on fire pools spawning skulls of fire that launch streams of fire was a mad old time.

Wait what? Are they planning to port the first game too?

  • Bosses seem singularly designed to fuck over necromancers specifically.
  • Many bosses have no minions, or (insultingly) minions that do not leave bodies behind for spellcasting

a boss that one-shots you if you don't roll in time.

I am in favor of laws that impose the death penalty on developers who put skills and abilities in RPGs that don't work on bosses.

with warrior i dont have a lot of problems with bosses since perfect strike kills anyone of them with 2 or 3 hits
the only boss that gave me a lot of problems is the twin guardians at the end of trial of will cause they attack overlap a lot and honor system is ass if you have a melee build

i think i reached the end endgame theres a couple things
1st maps are giant, theres like 10 bosses that you have to kill on each map and 1st one took me about 40 minutes to complete
2nd you have limited portals back to the base and portals do not disappear once you come back to the map like usual! so my monkey brain started to mash the pick up button the second i came back to pick up the rest of my loot and immediately activated my portal back squandering 1 trip completely so be careful

Got the third ascendancy done after 5 tries. Every time prior I made it to the 3rd floor but not the last boss due to so many afflictions. This time was super lucky with afflictions and had a boon that disables traps entirely. Made it to the last boss with 5k honor left, killed it with 4k left.
