His munchie predaliction is the most feminine thing about him.
Having just binged the munchie thread, I 100% agree. I think Dave is very heavily influenced by Sickstagram and the BPD munchie waifs therein.
Thing is, those munchies only get away with what they do because they are largely young, thin, pretty white women. Dave is a balding, overweight and hairy middle-aged man with shit tattoos. But I think it's an insight into his state of mind. Dave isn't a cynical faker like Charles Clymer or Rhys McKinnon, who pretend to be women for power and clout. Whether Dave genuinely thinks he's a woman I don't know for sure, but he seems to genuinely think he passes. A lot of his poses and photos are very reminiscent of the waifs of Instagram, and that's not something that a Clymer or McKinnon would do. Those guys know they don't pass, they just want to bully people into saying that the Emperor has new clothes because it gives them a power trip and it's something they can grift off of.
That's not Dave's MO. He seems to have a badly broken mind and an obsession with vulnerable women - not so much to exploit them, but to skinwalk them. He either thinks he is, or desperately wants to be, a beautiful but damaged waif. Hence his obsession with Fiona Apple and Emilie Autumn, who are the most successful examples of the archetype. And of course munching and medical obsessions are both part of that. Whilst most troons want to be anime girls or Marilyn Monroe, Dave wants to be Tori Amos.
We all know Dave does not live in reality - his relationship with his parents and the way he talks about that and his legal issues show that he is deeply delusional and has such an intense victim complex that it rules his entire life and disconnects him totally from any real insight into the kind of person he is or the effect he has on other people. So it's possible that just in the same way that he's convinced that he's the victim of parental abuse when it's very much the other way around, he is convinced that he is a vulnerable waif with made-up diseases. He certainly behaves like one and doesn't break character often if ever. He may well have BPD, or some other Cluster B personality disorder like most of them do. Problem is, the people who are taken in by munchies and shower them with attention and praise for being so brave with their made-up diseases aren't going to extend the same suspension of disbelief to a tubby balding man with a $40,000 guitar collection.
