Mufasa is making more money than Sonic internationally, and it's expected to make more worldwide, but Sonic will beat it out domestically, which is more important since America is the only country that matters (and also studios get a bigger pay cut from the domestic box office).
Disney's also possibly fucking with the numbers like they did with prior movies.

I fucking hate you for giving me visuals on this. Thank God Tony Jay isn't alive to be a part of any of this. SPOILER IT
They are most unwise for insulting the Devourer of Death, the Origin of all Life, and the Hub of the Wheel of Fate.

And the Lieutenant of the Super Mutant army.

Captain marvel's opening weekend having completely barren movie theatres despite being supposedly fully booked was a clear tell of where we were in terms of disney pulling weird shit to inflate their own box office press numbers.
Personally I don't believe that is the case only because I do think Captain Marvel made a billion, not because people liked that movie, but between 2013-2019, every superhero movie made bank regardless of quality, and Captain Marvel was the movie before Endgame so people were watching it to see how it ties into Endgame. That's also part of why the sequel bombed because it didn't have that hook for people to watch it.

As for Disney fucking over Sonic 3 to benefit Mufasa, if Disney had that power, many of their movies wouldn't have bombed last year and even this year they had bombs. Mufasa just has an advantage over Sonic 3 since it had a worldwide premiere while Sonic 3 was released gradually worldwide since some countries aren't showing it till this month. I can believe this is not Disney sabotage only because Paramount is also run by idiots, second most idiotic studio with only Sony beating them.

There were people that wnt for sure but disney also clearly inflated the numbers. The severe marketing claiming it was "THA FIRST FEMALE SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER" when it clearly wasn't amidst several other things on top of the weird shit with theatres the opening week kind of hint to SOMETHING going on.

Untied to captianmarvel I already pointed this out at somepoint I thin but every time disney comes out with some reboot or continuation of some IP the last few years there's almost always randomly one of the main actors claiming fans are racist and sexist even if it'd be out of character for the person to start claiming that about people unprompted.

I saw Mufasa with friends. I’ve never seen the first “live action” Lion King and the hyper-realistic CGI is so uncomfortable even though they gave the animals facial expressions this time. Spoilers ‘cause because.

The best way I can describe Mufasa is by calling it a “Marvel movie.” Yes, I know Marvel is Disney. I think the word “shoehorned” is a bit too strong but they shoehorned so many callbacks and origin stories into this it really felt like all the cameos crammed into capeshit. It even has the “origin story” of Rafiki’s staff. They do this while also not explaining other things, i.e. the identity of the female baboon who defended young Rafiki. I’m shocked they didn’t find a way to throw the elephant graveyard or something in there.

The pacing is insane. They do not allow anything to sink in. There are some pretty ambitious camera angles and holy shit, I’m pretty sure the camera was never static for longer than 2 seconds. The songs are overall “mid” and oddly spaced. A few of them start well before turning to shit or only have good segments to them. Mufasa’s version of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” is probably the best one overall, maybe tied with Mufasa’s version of “Be Prepared.”

Many aren’t aware of this, but there’s a long-extant expanded universe or canon for Lion King. I believe most of this was established through books and the animated sequel Simba’s Pride (which I love). This movie retcons some of this by having Mufasa be Taka’s adopted brother instead of his biological brother. It’s also worth noting that while this movie is supposed to be about Mufasa’s origin story… it may as well be Scar’s (Taka is Scar ICYMI). So why was there no attempt to explain why Taka’s parents named him the Swahili word for GARBAGE especially if his real dad is so obsessed with "muh bloodline" and Taka being a badass king?
Well I liked Mufasa
No judgement. I don’t think Mufasa is a "bad movie" overall and I didn’t hate it. I can understand why people or kids would like it. At least it’s sorta its own story of just being a remake that lacks any soul. But I’ve seen a lot of brainiacs on social media being mad over people criticizing it. The first live-action CGI Lion King made over a billion dollars at the box office yet this one’s only cracked $130 million so far. Methinks there’s a bigger reason for this aside from just people “always wanting to complain about something" and "you can't please some people" (actual copes I've seen). I also hated Timon and Pumbaa in this by the way.

The best part of it for me was realizing the voice actor for Mufasa’s biological father is the same one for the Cat in Coraline and Dr. Facillier in The Princess and the Frog. Love to see a king flourish.

I admit, I get a sense of schadenfreude seeing casuals being exposed to endless comic book events and tie-ins.

I'm seeing something quite interesting here, quite interesting indeed, I trust you all can see it as well. Either Box Office Mojo is shitting itself, or Disney's up to some funny business. I'll let you be the judge, filenames are various movies for the sake of comparison, and checked other movies to make sure I wasn't having some type of schizo episode.

The numbers, Paleblood Vessel, what do they mean?

Mufasa won the US Christmas War against Sonic 3 https://x.com/Luiz_Fernando_J/status/1874584955990220972

Probably one of the craziest turnarounds for this movie is that the soundtrack is literally the thing that stopped it from being a flop and now it's making back it's money and then some.

The Mufasa soundtrack is doing Encanto numbers on tiktok which I find extremely funny considering that this hasn't happened with neither Moana 2 or wish

Yeah, feel free to label me as dumb and autistic as apparently Paramount themselves are dumb and autistic for not feeling like reporting their box office numbers the past few days. It just so happened that the movies I picked out of a hat (recent releases) had only that one Paramount movie.
Nonetheless, Mufasa will make money if one is to be literal about it, but you don't spend hundreds of millions of dollars to only get a couple million back, and you don't tend to make a prequel to a movie that made over 1.6 billion dollars at the box office with the expectation of making less than half of that at the box office with the prequel.

Damn, it's going to be a close battle for the domestic total.

The higher-ups at these megacorps always expect the line to go up regardless of circumstances. They saw so many goyim people show up for the last one that they felt that they could turn this into an entire series.

Honestly I don't care about who "wins", Disney was shitting themselves in rage and Sonic 3's having a better run than 2 and is turning a profit. I'm not complaining.
Instead of looking at Sonic and focusing on creating entertaining movies kids want to see, Disney instead probably thinks they must continue to bully movie theaters and shit out even more hideous garbage.

Essentially, the Encanto effect is what kicked in because the song on streaming sites and apps like tiktok popped off and are convincing zoomers and families to go see the film purely because of that .

You know that's the case because Disney has constantly spammed the I've always wanted a brother on their music channels and they've hit like 2 million views in just like a couple of days

People are making animated versions of the songs and even covers.

It's so ridiculous that I've seen some people say that it feels like a psyop

I haven't heard anything about that song so I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS a psyop.
