It's nowhere near October, but one ensemble is already on track to be named the most controversial Halloween costume of 2015.

Social media users were out in full force on Monday criticizing several Halloween retailers for offering a Caitlyn Jenner costume reminiscent of the former-athlete's Vanity Fair cover earlier this year.

While Jenner's supporters condemned the costume as "transphobic" and "disgusting" on Twitter, Spirit Halloween, a retailer that carries the costume, defended the getup.

"At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marking at Spirit Halloween. "We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."

fucked up driver

The only thing more wild than that video is the comments section.
So ok let me get this straight... after this, he got out of the car without pants on, in which case a shower suction dildo also fell out of the car? Then he casually tosses a pink jug and puts his pants on before being arrested with heroin? And is schizophrenic?
Did I leave out any other bizarre details?

Basically, a key piece of mathematics creates bulk masses of fermions that are manifested in the so-called fifth dimensional warped space. This pocket “dark sector” is one possible way to explain the huge amount of dark matter that, so far, has eluded detection using any traditional measurements designed for the standard model of physics. Fermions jammed through a portal to a warped fifth dimension could be “acting as” dark matter.

Having the cannabis editor write it seems appropriate. Not only is he the last 'journalist' a California newspaper would fire, but being drowned in a mild tsunami might be about the only thing weed shills won't claim it can cure.
He was fired months ago, he is/was too stoned to realize. They don't pay him but he just keeps showing up every day to his desk in the basement, eh free labor.

A Tyson Foods plant exploded

CNN —
A fire at a Tyson Foods plant in Camilla, Georgia, killed one person and severely burned others early Friday.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, a Tyson Foods spokesperson, who confirmed the death, told CNN.

“We are working closely with local authorities to determine the cause of a late-night fire at our Camilla, Georgia facility that resulted in the death of one person and several injuries,” the spokesperson said. “We extend our deepest condolences to their family and friends during this difficult time.”

A union spokesperson described the incident as a boiler explosion. Others have been severely burned in the explosion, the union said in a statement.

The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union represents more than 15,000 poultry workers across the southern US, including 1,600 workers at the Tyson facility in Camilla in south Georgia.

The victim was identified as a 61-year-old woman from Las Vegas, according to Mitchell County Deputy Coroner Robby Willis.

The victim’s body, which the union said was pinned under debris and inaccessible, was eventually recovered shortly after 2:00 p.m. Friday, Willis said. The victim was accompanying her husband, who works as a truck driver, to the plant, where he was loading products in and out of his tractor-trailer. Neither of them worked at the plant, according to Willis.

The woman was asleep in the sleeper of the truck when the explosion happened and was killed when a concrete wall came down on the tractor-trailer, Willis said. Her husband was in the building at the time of the blast and was not injured.

“We are working with the company and local emergency authorities to ensure that all the workers impacted are taken care of,” Stuart Appelbaum and Edgar Fields of the union said in a statement.

“Our members and the community of Camilla depend on this facility operating, it is too early to tell what happened last night but there must be a thorough investigation into this incident, and workers must be able to work safely in the facility,” Appelbaum and Fields said. “No worker should ever have to worry that when they go to work, they may not be able to return home safe and sound.”

Union representatives are on the scene to help anyone injured in the explosion.

CNN has reached out to the Camilla Fire Department and the Camilla Police Department.

Toddler nearly runs off cliff at Hawaii volcano

A Hawaii national park has issued a new warning to tourists after a toddler was grabbed "in the nick of time" from falling off the rim of an erupting volcano.

The little boy wandered off from his family and "in a split second, ran straight toward the 400ft cliff edge" of the Kilauea volcano, the park said.

"His mother, screaming, managed to grab him", the park added in its statement, when the toddler was "just a foot or so away from a fatal fall".

Park ranger Jessica Ferracane, who observed the incident, told the BBC she hopes sharing details of the incident will help "prevent future tragedies".

Kilauea, on Hawaii's Big Island, is one of the world's most active volcanoes.

It routinely erupts, and the latest eruption began on 23 December with lava pictured gushing to the surface.

The eruption is continuing at a low level within a closed area of the national park, the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said in its latest update on Saturday.

The park said the incident happened on Christmas Day in a closed area of the park where families had gathered to watch the lava.

It was in an area overlooking the caldera - the large crater of the volcano - and the boy would not have survived the fall, Ms Ferracane said.

Park rangers said they want to remind visitors to stay on trail and out of closed areas, and to keep their children close.

"Those who ignore the warnings, walk past closure signs, lose track of loved ones, and sneak into closed areas to get a closer look do so at great risk."

Ms Ferracane added: "Hopefully sharing the news will prevent future tragedies and near-misses."

Shit like this is why my aunt kept one of my cousins on a leash when they were on vacation. When he was small he thought trying to run away was a game... whether that was into a hallway or onto a highway didn't matter.
When my dad was a toddler he wouldn't stop trying get into the water from a boat. He liked water in general but it was extra fascinating when they were in boat. Adult attention on something else for second and he was trying get out of the boat. My grandma had so many almost accidents that they started to put a rope around him so they could the very least pull him back into the boat.

Kids love a good game of chase!

Slight PL maybe but whenever some harpies squawk about it when I say I'm absolutely getting those backpack leashes for future kids, I point that sort of thing out, and that everyone in my immediate family has ADHD and we know it runs on my husband's side as well (him and his mom for sure, not sure about others) and so does spectrum stuff. I'm taking LOTS of precautions to make sure the kids stay alive, because that's one of the duties of a parent. They even get to pick the backpack! They don't have to stay on them for many years, just til they have enough common sense to not run out into traffic/dangerous situations!

Whoever invented those backpack leashes, I hope they retire rich and get a special place in Heaven reserved for those who made taking care of kids easier 🤣

If you start them off early wearing the leash, they'll bring it to you when it's time to go out. My kids enjoyed the leash (to the point they'd attempt a fit when it was time to take it off).

Man sought after littering cotton at primarily Black church near Augusta

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man suspected of trespassing on the property of a church with a primarily Black congregation and spreading raw cotton on the front steps.

The man “is wanted for questioning regarding an incident involving trespassing and inappropriate activity,” according to a New Year’s Eve social media post from the sheriff’s office. It’s not clear what charges he could face, and the sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to requests for more information Thursday.

Officials did not say when the incident took place, but the sheriff’s office released a flyer Tuesday with a photo of the man and a car. The church is off Old Waynesboro Road, south of Augusta, though officials did not specify what church was targeted.

Photos taken from the church’s security cameras appear to show a man with a beard carrying a large handful of cotton up a ramp to the building, where the sheriff’s office said he “littered raw field cotton onto the porch steps.” Another photo shows the suspect’s car, a red Ford Mustang with a body style manufactured between 1994 and 2005.

Anyone with information about the incident or the individual is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 706-554-2133, or the criminal investigations division at 706-554-6633. Callers may remain anonymous, the sheriff’s office said.

I'm not sure if this is the best place for this but I couldn't find an adult-children hate thread.

Throughout the mammalian kingdom, it’s widely observed that play decreases as animals mature. Researchers offer various theories for why this happens, but one of the most widely accepted is that young mammals use play to develop skills needed for adulthood: building nests, hunting, finding mates, and eventually raising their offspring. By the time these creatures reach maturity, play naturally cedes space to the serious, and often more rewarding, tasks of surviving and thriving.

Here we encounter one such example, a human male who can be seen lamenting on how video games, bar hopping, and scrolling social media just isn't doing it for him anymore. Tragically, without guidance from an older male. This particular specimen is lost in the world. While his better adjusted peers would react by putting down the vidya and picking up bills and diapers, as they care for their new family and responsibilities (which brings more fullfillment than play ever did), he doubles down. Deciding he needs to find more extreme forms of play to scratch a psychological itch which will only get harder and harder to satisfy as he grows older and lonely from being further separated from his peers and the void begins creeping in.

Indeed, while his peers are getting married, buying homes, and making families he decides to uproot himself and move across the country. For what reason? One might ponder on such a fine evening. Perhaps he is going to help a sick family member, he has finally found a woman who he thinks is worth throwing out his toy collection for? Or, maybe, the common problem of finding better employment so he can begin building a stable foundation for his future life.

Sadly, none of these motivations prove true. Instead, he lands in the world’s most famous theme park town, determined to immerse himself in an environment wholly dedicated to fantasy and fun but lacking in any of the depth or meaning he so desperately craves. For a while, this Disneyland can serve as a tempting hideaway from the pressing demands of reality. However, it offers no genuine relief from life’s inevitable transitions. Plushie toys, social media snapshots, and fleeting moments of childlike glee cannot hold back the tide of time. As that tide rises, the gaps in one’s life, from lacking meaningful work to missing the bonds of family, only grow starker.

In the 21st century, such tales are not uncommon. They represent a broader phenomenon of men and women struggling to launch into adulthood. Without mentors or elders to guide them, they become trapped in an endless loop of seeking new ways to hold on to youth and gaining endless pleasures. The realization that no amount of manufactured magic can replace the meaning found in building a life, complete with responsibilities, challenges, and genuine human connections, will be devastating when it finally arrives.

Let his story serve as a cautionary tale that reminds us of the value in venturing beyond the familiar illusions of adolescence and finding meaning in building something which will out live us. Such as a family.
