The incident at Trump Tower in Las Vegas

Eye witnesses claim there has been a "huge explosion" near Donald Trump's tower in Las Vegas, with one local posting on social media saying he heard a loud "boom, boom, boom".

Videos taken by locals nearby the 64 floor complex have reported police and fire rushing to the scene, which boasts it has the most "exceptional views" of the strip. One person shared a video on X seeming to show smoke rising into the air from close to the luxury complex, although it is currently unclear what has transpired.

They said in the footage: "I just heard a boom. There's a lot of smoke. It was like a boom, boom, boom. It almost sounded like a rolling garbage dumpster, then I saw that pop up."

Another wrote on X: "My friend who did the Grucci fireworks show in Las Vegas just now texted me that there was a huge explosion at Trump Tower in Vegas." Another added: "Some sort of explosion at Trump tower in Las Vegas. No idea what happened yet."

The Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas is a huge 64-story building, complete with condos, on Fashion Show Drive in Paradise, Nevada. It was named after its part-owner Donald Trump, and is located just down the street from the Wynn hotel.

The exterior glass is infused with gold. The property opened on March 31, 2008, with 1,282 rooms, as well as two restaurants. It is Las Vegas's tallest residential building at 622ft (190m).

Very shitty attack, but that is what it was. New Year's Day, at the entrance of Trump Tower, hours after another vehicle attack, and you can see fireworks coming out? You can't blame the car company for this one.

Combined with the Germany Christmas market attack, this is the Goofus and Gallant of vehicular attacks, showing all the terrorists what not to do.

It is really sounding like some redditor type tried to do Baby's First Car Bomb and really thought it was gonna be really easy, until it wasn't.

That was my thought. Some beta they/them troon or something in a rage. Where they thought hiring a cyber truck and packing the bed with anything explosive they could find would Timothy McVeigh the Trump Tower.

In other words: “this would have been a rousing success if you blew up a Model Y instead. Something to keep in mind for next time fellas.”

Is this actually a concern? I know electric vehicle fires are a toxic bitch to extinguish, but do they really have the same/more explosive potential as a full tank of gas?
I don’t want to fed post but just don’t accidentally drill into your Tesla floorboard. Bad things happen.

Who knows? We now know for sure though that if you fill the bed of a Cybertruck with gas cans/Coleman fuel/fireworks and then detonate it that it’s pretty much gonna stay together and just cook you to death in the drivers seat like a giant stainless steel offset smoker.

Gasoline needs very special condition to explode. At most you can burn it. If you don't mix it with plenty of air it will actually burn worse than alcohol. A puddle of gasoline is somewhat hard to ignite, needing to be allowed to create a bunch of vapors first.

A lithium battery, on the other hand, can and WILL release ALL of the stored energy if exposed to air and/or water. The chemistry of lithium makes water literally only heat it up faster, and once it gets hot enough it will actually burn the water (causing the molecules to break and then combine again, a hydrogen/oxygen fire).

Basically if the Irish start using electric cars it will be like attaching a thermite charge to Seamus' Special Delivery.

Wait until they hear about the hydrogen proton exchange fueled cars. I remember Ukrainians got their hand on one and took out a chunk of a building.

Or if it overheats, or if it short circuits, which they can sometimes spontaneously do. The lithium layer can sometimes form a dendrite and bridge to the anode and cause a ahort. Depending on where it happens, you might lose a little capacity, or it might explode.
