I still firmly believe that Phil's enjoyment of games has been eroded by turning it into a business. He looks at games as a way to make money to the point where he can't just sit down and enjoy a video game anymore. For other gaming channels on YouTube, you might see two to four playthroughs being rotated over the course of a week. Phil marathons it because it's like a machine to him. You can look at other channels and compare them to his, and see a stark difference between philosophy, attitude, and execution of their businesses.

The biggest difference I can see between the channel I'm thinking of for comparison and Phil, is that Phil is far too transparent about it being a business to him. He constantly whines about his financial situation and begs for money all the time. He talks about how he doesn't stop his gameplay to do shoutouts and address subs/donations, but it's the same thing when you dedicate the start of every single stream to do plugs and shake the cup for money. When you sit and whine for a half-hour to your viewer base about getting more money to stay home and play video games all day as a job, two things are pretty likely to happen. Either your viewers will start tuning you out or showing up late to miss the one-man telethon, or they'll just leave altogether. The start of your stream is the chance to hype up the crowd; the moment when the band comes on stage and says, "Good evening, Internet. Are you ready to rock?" Now just imagine for a moment if the bass player came up and asked for donations for 30 minutes before they got to their set list.

Going back to the other gaming channel I had in mind, they don't do that. They shoot the breeze a little, show some personality, and prepare to get things on a roll in a timely fashion. Are they making gaming their job? Of course they are. But they're not making that the focus of the product they're selling. They're having actual fun with each other. Cracking jokes, going crazy when something genuinely impressive or crazy happens as they play, and generally having a good time doing something they really enjoy. It helps that there is more than one person there in most cases; but Phil still has trouble when with someone else. He doesn't play off other people well, and his stuff he's played with Leanna tends to be fairly representative of that. It really comes back to the fact that this is far too much of a job to Phil. Record a game, turn it into money. He's lost sight of the fact that people call it playing games. Not manufacturing them into cash.

Somewhere along the line, I think he lost his passion for just playing games.
Phil's weird. Anyone with a working brain can see that he only care about the money, but he does things that you wouldn't expect from someone running a business like insulting his customers, not capitalizing on hot trends, etc.
He calls himself the King of Hate but still wants to be seen as the good guy. Everything that he does contradict each other.

Some people in chat were saying that he might have mold in his house. He had a roof leak around the time he bought the house which his assosiation fixed but I don't think phil ever made sure the walls were okay and mold free. I don't know if Washington doesn't require inspections but the people he bought the house from must have snuck the roof leak past the home inspector before selling it.

If all this is true then Phil's lucky finally fucking ran out thank god. Of course this is just speculation, but if his house IS full of mold he won't be able to sell it :).

He's going to the doctor on wednesay, I totally expecting a "WTF" from his doctor and xrays to check for pneumonia. Phil thinks he's just gonna get some prescription drugs and be outta there lmao.

The house has mold, he showed off some growing in his bathroom and in the woodwork of the house on vlogs last year. He only found out about it after he moved in, and either didn't know about the mold in the woodwork or did nothing to address it until his dad flew out last Summer :story:.

That's because Phil believes sitting on his fat ass and recording shitty video game kahntent for yootoob is equivalent to being a legitimate, professional business owner. At least, that's what he's whined to his parents the thousands of times they've probably told him to get a real job.

Phil is really dumb, and doesn't realize he's sinking his own ship. He thinks the reason for his current death spiral is entirely due to trolls && his fans not supporting him hard enough. He feels entitled to his previous yootoob tugboat numbers, despite him doing nearly nothing to improve his "product" in the past five years. It must really sting for someone as greedy as him to see many of his ex-viewers surpass his success.

Hasn't he been thinking that all the time?

Not saying i want DSP to get cancer but some of the symptoms apply to him for throat cancer. Hopefully he tells us what he is diagnosed with I am curious. I think it's going to be Pneumonia.

Supposedly, he's pretty certain he doesn't have pneumonia. Though if he were a doctor, he'd probably just call it bugged lung mechanics.

"Now let's see my status scr- WHAAAAAAT?! Pneumonia?! How the hell I g- How I got infected?! I haven't been scratched by anyone or had contact with anyone in weeks! ACK ACK ACK ACK! Bugged health mech- *COUGH**COUGH**SNORT*"

According to Socialblade, DSPgaming has received a million views in the last 2-3 days and has experienced an increase in views of 136% in the last 30 days.

I can't find any videos produced in the last little while which would explain this away, and all of his most popular videos are at least 3 years old. His latest closely supervised Dark Souls run isn't pulling in anything greater than a normal AAA release either.

Bugged monitoring mechanics or several surreptitious Red Lobster evenings forthcoming?

Phil's putting out all his year end shit so that might be helping him, and Dark Souls is just youtube crack in general so it might be fucking with the results. In general it's been a non month for games so far so people are probably spending more time watching youtube. That'll change next week when Gravity Rush 2 launches and is immediately followed by RE7 and Kingdom hearts 2.8.
