I don't care if Bernie is doing it as a grift, he's right about it and everyone, no matter Democrat or Republican, should agree that importing immigrants is done for the sole purpose of cheap labor.

I don't think he is grifting, he has had the same things for years now. Most of the people I know didn't vote for Bernie because they thought all his socialist policies would cost too much, but now that our budget runs like 3 trillion into debt anyways, Bernie looks like he would have been a much better president in retrospect. No one person could have turned back the clock for America, but at the very least I think Bernie was sincere in his beliefs and convictions.

The H1B discourse itself is a good example. No one's pretending to hand wave about "muh racism" when discussing the facts, you either think companies should undercut American labor for profit or shouldn't.

Agreed, it's pretty clear Dems like Bernie and Fetterman see which way the wind is blowing. What remains to be seen is what direction the party will actually go. These last few weeks is the quietest I've seen the Left in a decade. There's definitely a palpable sense that people are starting to realize the woke types are both a liability, and that they can be ignored. The question is how big of a consensus that is among the rest of the Democrats, and if the Far Left will go quietly.

On the brighter side, the vibe I'm getting IRL is that everyone shitting on Elon and concerns about H1Bs has been pretty bi-partisan, and it's a nice glimpse of sanity for some of the younger leftists into both what they should be fighting for (worker's rights), and also into the actual reasons why people on the Right want tighter immigration controls.

I genuinely have never been drawing a blank this hard in my life as to what happens next, insofar as politics goes. I'm cautiously optimistic, but we're definitely in the calm before the storm.
