It wasn't an entirely one-way transaction. America essentially got all of Europe at its beck and call politically, a market to export to, as well as debt sinks to help keep the dollar strong. America can start a war in Iraq, 3 million Brits can protest the idea of joining in London, yet the government will join anyway. I think becoming an American vassal state in all but name might have contributed to Europe becoming shit (Because it removed incentive to improve), but in the other direction America was forced to watch as its lump purchase subscription for vassalage over Europe see diminishing returns. Europe got to rebuild itself, implement shit tons of social programs which the American left is envious of and now the governments of these nations will just shit on the nation which helped them in the past. I think America no longer subsiding the defence of Europe will help both in the long run, but I don't think the governments of Europe and the USA will strive for such a thing, even if the populations in both clamour for it.

Every country in Europe that lived for a few generations with Russia's boot on their necks likes us just fine. In retrospect, we should have let Stalin have France, the Low Countries, and the UK as well.

And how they fought was idiotic. Sending men in wave attacks to attack a trench, get wiped out by MG's, just to do it again the next day for absolutely no ground gained and no victory. We had to save them twice from this retardation
