For at least a couple of generations, the vast majority of media that was considered "edgy" or "subversive" or what-have-you was just boomer shitlibs acting bitter and resentful because their utopian fantasies never came true. That's why so much of it was built around hating things like traditions and community, and especially why they have such a pathological hatred of the 1950s (where their parents are from). It's why the family in that comic looks like a stereotypical 1950s family. They're still bitter about Reagan winning, despite the comic being about Trump.

This goes a long way towards explaining garbage like that comic. It just radiates the bitter hatred of someone who didn't get their way. What's worse (or funnier) is that it's likely that whoever made that comic probably isn't even a boomer liberal, they just inherited their hatred from consuming so much of their media.

That's correct, but tensions with Mexico were still quite high. We had taken over the city of Veracruz in 1914, and then of course you had the Pancho Villa Expedition that ended in a fight between American and Mexican troops that saw bodies drop on both sides. The fact the offer had even been made was something we needed to know about as a potential threat to us.

Fun random fact. Patton got into a wild West duel with three Mexican bandits and won. I believe it was one of the rare times actual combat happened during that expedition.

I know very well how fucked the USPS currently is. My veteran dad's VA prescribed medications (which for some stupid government reason, can only be sent via USPS) sure have a tendency to get "lost" in the mail. He isn't even on anything abusable! Like, can you get high on asthma medication? Presumably there's postal workers who target any package that seems to have pills in it, hoping to score painkillers or something.

The thing is, this is based on a misunderstanding of what the H1B actually is that I know he is smart enough to know. The H1B isn't "best and brightest" visa for exceptional engineers and scientists and shit. That's the O-1A Visa. The H1B visa is for "specialty occupations" that requires a bachelor or equivalent. That's not best and brightest, that's average and baseline.

To say that the H1B is what gets us the best and brightest is fundamentally a dishonest argument from them.
