I mentioned this on the other thread. Underpaid animators and a hostile work environment describe every animation studio, east and west. Doesn't make it right, but it seems like every criticism of Vivzie is the same shit you can apply to pretty much everyone working in animation. OMG, social media spergouts, weird porn tastes, etc! Old Rebecca Sugar didn't get nearly this much shit and I remind you she actually groomed the underage main voice actor into becoming a tranny. Maybe it's because she's Jewish that she gets away with it. It's like that bit from Good Fellas. "There was nothing we could do. Sugar was a made kike, and Vivzie wasn't.

Did a cleanup of the thread and added a bit explanation to some points involved (such as adding more information regarding the holes in Al's era) and adding Archived Posts and a Similar Thread issues, I also rewritten Hellaverse and Zoophobias sections (I recently read ZP) while rewriting DC and The Honorable Mentions.

Edit: I know the recent reblogger, whose been actively reblogging a lot of Viv adjacent things surprisingly which led to various people being brought up in the other thread surprisingly. (They lurk here.)

On top of being a cult classic with poor marketing fluid animation, like others said, I think theater kids love Cats Don't Dance in particular because, well, theater, and it had a very generic "plucky aspiring actor 'affects positive change' and stops discrimination so he and others can follow their dreams" plot. It's also one of the last 2D films that came out before 2D output declined. Other than the direct-to-DVD rush, Winnie the Pooh and The Princess and the Frog were among the last notable ones, around a decade later. Otherwise, studios began to chase the 3D dragon once Toy Story and Shrek proved 3D was viable. Basically Cats Don't Dance was the first note of a swan song for 2D animation being "a thing," even though it flopped in the box office.

Also the intro was one of the most memorable ones. I saw it as a kid, and I still remember the bus driving proto-Charlie to Hollywood.

Come to think of it, this might be why Hazbin doesn't work. She tried to shoehorn Cats Don't Dance into an Adult Swim universe with Jhonen Vasquez sensibilities, and it just doesn't fit.

Nothing wrong with wanting to make an adult musical, but that's still a real good point. Wonder if it's because her version of Hell just doesn't work with such sensibilities unless she were to have done some (respected) homages to the Hell of centuries past.

Another interesting tidbit of info, Elcee (as alleged by Chai) had discussed BDSM with Minors and shrugged it off as "Teaching Them" another instance of adults once again being creepy to minors is apparently a regular thing they do in the fanbase not JUST a one time thing as people claimed. I don't really know if this is true (Because well, I can't find the screenshot) but allegedly one of Viv's main orbiters either Elcee, DJ Blitz or Norry had bragged about having predators in the fandom and hiding them to own Chai and the Critical Fandom.

From what I can tell, her knowledge is a combination of Sunday school and cultural osmosis. Hell is based on the one from Dante's Inferno, with voodoo and demonology like Ars Goetia mixed in. But, for example, the Circle of Gluttony is essentially a big party ruled by Kesha, and an imp overdrinking was enough to ruin the vibe. Viv can understand it, she doesn't want to because its nature conflicts with her rather childish understanding of "the dark side" of life. It's safe edgy. She doesn't want to put her knowledge into practice since it'd force her to confront the reality of the things she craves.
