My favorite part about Elon's downfall is that NONE of this would have happened if he had just continued grifting to left winger Marvel soy bugmen like he did around the Pandemic. Elon just would have an easier time controlling a second Republican administration - May get a bit spergy but Elon more than likely just wanted to have power over the President, his original plan was for Desantis to win who would've just listened to Elon like a typical politician would for his donors since Elon wants stuff that would be antithetical for the optics of Democrats. But he had to change his tune for Trump who is easy to sway with flattery, but the most important bit is that Trump's VP is literally a puppet of Musk and Peter Thiel who astroboosted his career, so Elon has an easier time getting what he wants.

So in truth, I think Elon turned to right wing politics because it would be easier for him to get power and more money since Elon is an egomaniac who believes his own hype.
