UN Canada PM Trudeau to announce resignation as early as Monday, Globe and Mail reports - It’s Ovah, Hosers. Sorry.

L/A
Jan 5 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce as early as Monday that he will resign as Liberal Party Leader, The Globe and Mail reported on Sunday, citing three sources.

The sources told the Globe and Mail that they don't know definitely when Trudeau will announce his plans to leave but said they expect it will happen before a key national caucus meeting on Wednesday.

The Canadian prime minister's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.

It remains unclear whether Trudeau will leave immediately or stay on as prime minister until a new leader is selected, the report added.

Trudeau took over as Liberal leader in 2013 when the party was in deep trouble and had been reduced to third place in the House of Commons for the first time.

Trudeau's departure would leave the party without a permanent head at a time when polls show the Liberals will badly lose to the Conservatives in an election that must be held by late October.

His resignation is likely to spur fresh calls for a quick election to put in place a government able to deal with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump for the next four years.

The prime minister has discussed with Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc whether he would be willing to step in as interim leader and prime minister, one source told the newspaper, adding that this would be unworkable if LeBlanc plans to run for the leadership.

Before 2015, Canadians had everything thanks to this man. It was during those times where you would see Canadians being smug to Americans with their "universal healthcare," "better quality of life," and "majority white people." In 2015, they voted this man out for someone who looks more handsome and promises them weed. Now we get "please die healthcare," "unlivable," and the "next Indian province." Miss him yet?

So Trump has brought down how many western governments, just by being elected. And he's not even taken office yet?
Canada
Germany
Austria
The British are on the verge
South Korea
There's something weird happening in Italy

Am I missing any?
France. Things were looking bleak for Macron last summer but he did some maneuvering and made some backroom deals to stay in power and more importantly for him he prevented a right wing government.

Then it all collapsed a month after Trump won.

Kind of a lame anti-climax if you ask me. The fact that Canadians didn't have the intestinal fortitude to vote him out of office, and he had to do it for them, is pretty pathetic.
he would not have won the next election, the people who voted for him previously did it because they are typical liberals who have this American right/left view of politics, being conseritives being Americanized out of touch regressive, who will vote for anyone if it means keeping their seats as low as possible.
women voted for him because they think hes attractive

and most of Canada is leftist
Canada was never progressive or whatever the left is now. It was a socialist democracy. In practice it meant we basically had a mix of private and public industry. Things that benefitted the public good like transportation and healthcare were public corporations that everybody paid into and benefitted from while other industries were private industries. This worked well until the government decided to start privatizing previously public industries and increasing regulatory oversight over the private sector. Basically, fucking up a mostly working social system and mostly working private sector and making them both into shit. The recent American style left wing bullshit in Canada really has only been around since Trudeau became PM.

Gone but never forgotten.

I'm thankfully out of touch with Canadian politics, but Trudeau struck me as the type of NeoLiberal golem who isn't even liked among shitlibs for not being "good enough". Am I right or are Canadian libs in shambles right now (please say they are)
