War Trump Won’t Rule Out Military Taking Greenland, Panama Canal - President-elect threatens Denmark with tariffs over Greenland

President-elect Donald Trump said he would not promise to avoid a military confrontation over his desire to bring Greenland or the Panama Canal under US control.

“I can’t assure you on either of those two, but I can say this, we need them for economic security,” Trump said at a press conference Tuesday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, when asked if he could assure other nations he would not resort to economic or military coercion to achieve those aims.

“I’m not going to commit to that,” Trump added.

Trump also said he would use “high-level” tariffs to persuade Denmark to give up Greenland, which is a self-ruling territory of the country.

“People really don’t even know if Denmark has any legal right to it but if they do, they should give it up because we need it for national security,” Trump said. “That’s for the free world, I’m talking about protecting the free world.”

The remarks came after Trump earlier suggested he’d look to expand US influence in the Western Hemisphere, including by changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, escalating a feud with a major neighboring trading partner and ally.

“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territory,” Trump said. “What a beautiful name and it’s appropriate,” he added.

Trump also said he would use “economic force” to compel Canada to become the 51st state in the US, a development he has repeatedly floated in recent weeks. Trump said the US subsidizes Canada and doesn’t need their products, including cars and milk.

“We basically protect Canada,” Trump said. “We’re spending hundreds of billions a year to take care of Canada. We lose in trade deficits.”

Trump did not detail how he would go about achieving that change or provide more details on his plans.

The incoming president assailed Mexico during the press conference, saying the country was taking advantage of the US in trade and was beset by massive problems, highlighting violence linked to drug gangs.

“We have a massive deficit with Mexico, and we help Mexico a lot. They’re essentially run by the cartels, and we can’t let that happen,” Trump said. “Mexico is really in trouble, a lot of trouble, very dangerous place, and we’re going to be announcing a future date. Pretty soon we’re going to change because we do most of the work there, and it’s ours.”

Trump has vowed to take a tougher stance against Mexico and Canada in his second term, threatening the countries with new tariffs if they do not do more to stem the flow of migrants and illegal drugs across US borders.

I really, really think that invading Greenland would be extremely stupid and I have no idea why Drumpf keeps going on about it. There are so many issues facing the USA just now and none of them can be solved by annexing part of a sovereign democracy which is 99% frozen wasteland. I know there's minerals and oil under the ice but I'm not convinced that there's an economic case for extracting them at this point in time.
Militarily Greenland is important to the United States moreso with both Russia and CCP angling to expand their Artic holdings. In which Greenland is being eyeball by both of them.

I don't doubt that the US military could take Nuuk in an afternoon, but the Greenlanders are morally and legally entitled to self-determination.
The Inuit Greenlanders were perfectly happy being bought by Trump during his first term. As Americans weren't the ones who fucked them over. As it was their Danish overlords who fucked them over by trying to turn them into good little Scandinavian communists socialists. As is it's the Danes who're being pissy Trump is eyeballing their fiefdom.

Lmao tbh. Lol even. I don't think any country leader has been as blunt since the early Middle Ages.
Ultima Ratio Aurantium
It sounds like something a dictator would threaten to distract his country from real problems.
Maybe the Europeans should have spent some money on a military so an orange Hitler couldn't whip his country's dick out in public and start cockslapping them with mere harsh words.

>Dutchmen seething at the Tangerine Tyrant

Expected, but it’s always worse than you expect with the Dutch.
You're aware that the Dutch and the Danish are two different people, right?

Dutch:

Known for faggy artists, dykes, chomos, weed, windmills, tulips, and forcing your SO to huff your farts.

Danish:

Known for pastries, disgusting marine animal recipes, austere design, holding sparsely inhabited islands, and inventing Bluetooth [ed.: citation needed].

Why did you make two distinctions for what are clearly the same thing.

Yea but we've already looked, efforts to find oil on that ball of ice has failed.

The U.S. was once the world's top producer of rare earths. Now China is. China also has most of the world's capacity to process the elements. The Trump administration has labeled rare earth elements essential to national defense, and Washington is working to bolster the national industry.

I bet Greenlanders, like the Shetlanders, would say they'd like to be part of Norway too, if you asked them. It's rightfully Norwegian clay (and ice) anyway. After the Napoleonic wars our kingdom was carved up like a turkey and split between Sweden and Denmark. Denmark only got Greenland as a consolation prize so that they could keep their great power fantasy alive. Now we have the cash to do something useful with it.

I don't think the Greenland thing is anywhere near a big a deal or source of drama as is being made out.

Greenland is a huge economic drain on Denmark, which desires but cannot by their own admission currently feasibly maintain independence.

Denmark probably can't just hand over an entire nation to Orange Hitler because that would look bad, but I can't imagine them being overly concerned if he took it. The shipping might be a thing in the future, but I'm not aware of any suggestion the Danes are interested in this. From what I can see, Denmark wants to grant independence once it can.

The EU might be another matter, but with Russia's situation and China being their Sugar Daddy Xi isn't really a viable alternative to Orange Man.

Canada is just trash talk. The Panama Canal is more interesting though. I could imagine him doing it, since there's not really a fat lot anyone else can do about it if he did.

The Americas belong to America. Shrimple as.
Mexico can be green glass. They deserve it.

>But muh NATO
It's just the US. The only thing that keeps Europe from being a US territory is our unwillingness to have Eurofag politics be a part of America. We can literally just point our guns towards your backs and the only people that can do anything about it are the Polish with their massive Infantry size but it's just Infantry so they can get mowed down like tribals against a Vickers Gun. The nigger horde that France uses for it's military would probably just do their own thing and kill all the French for fun like in Haiti

His economic threat to Canada might be more serious then was suggested. Canada cannot afford any economic instability right now because Mr Popo fucked over the Canadian economy beyond repair. Separatism and hatred for Ottawa is strong in the west, I would not be surprised if the Prairie provinces got hit hard by the tariffs and their economy fell to shit that they might consider separating from Canada and joining the USA.

Ironically because of all the poos and chinks Trudeau let in which diluted the native population with people only interested in money and using Canada for their own ends its highly likely that if Canada was ever asked yo vote on it all those "new Canadians" would gladly vote yes to being annexed because then they would become US citizens.
