Final verdict on wrasslin show: It has potential to be a good weekly recap format as long as they keep their commentary tight and focused. Their paypigs will give the same amount if they do a 1 hour show or a 10 hour show. It has decent short term potential for a season or two. If they recap the events of the week in their own style, it will be a decent but not exceptional program. This is especially true because Phil has a recurring and chronic habit of derailing anything that is stable, as evidenced by the time he abandoned Black Myth: Wukong, which was a commercial and audience success AND he was making good progress without epic chimpouts. Phil has avoided making this an exercise in narcissism but who knows how long he can keep that up. The most clippable moment is about 2 hours and 5 minutes in where Phil makes an incredibly transparent analogy to his own circumstances, about the importance of not allowing the antics of McMahon and Hogan to be contained going forward, but not erasing their legacies or cancelling them in modern day. This was a thinly veiled parallel to his own Dead Space gameplay where he made his infamous jokes about Nazis and space Jews and the (dumb) backlash that received. He pontificates on PC/woke culture at the most surface level and moves on.
Phil's ability to avoid howler monkey antics go a long way. Perhaps his frustration with Black Myth: Wukong is that the titular anthropomorphized monkey reminded him too much of Warski's antics, not the least of which was LIVESTREAMING CHILD PORN ON 2/28/19.
