You'd think an attorney of any competence would have advised Alyssa by now to STFU about SmashJT online and not give him any attention lest it undermine her pending suit. The fact that she hasn't speaks volumes about the competence of her legal team.

Or they have, she doesn't give a fuck because she craves that sweet, sweet attention, and they don't give a fuck because they're getting those billables either way.

The New York Game Awards is basically a benefit gala put on by the New York VideoGame Critics Circle which is not a professional org, it's a local nonprofit that offers extracurriculars about journalism and narrative design to disadvantaged kids and lets them publish writing on their blog. They have no reach, they just do their charity thing.

I have no idea why the stream was live for so long before the event but the actual content (the announcement of the nominations for the NYC Game Awards) starts at 1:43:10 and the panel with Alyssa starts at about 1:50:00 and there's nothing interesting about any of it.
  • The interviewer is practically asleep. He introduces Alyssa as a "Freelancer for... uhhh so many publications that you love." LOL
  • Alyssa butts in while the black guy with the gold chain is talking about people losing their minds for Astrobot in 2020 "heh we were all losing our minds in 2020 probably like heh heh"
  • The interviewer asks chain guy is Sony beat Nintendo at their own game with that title and Alyssa makes a goofy OOP! face for the camera.
  • The interviewer asks Alyssa what comes to mind as far as games in 2024. Alyssa says Balatro because she can't stop playing it. It has "TASTE. It just has such perfect taste, from the art design to the music." ... "It's that VIBE." She continues to talk generally about the design of Balatro without saying anything in particular or offering any insight besides "Made by a single developer which is crazy."
  • The interviewer asks the panel what their favorite New York Game Awards moments have been from past years. Alyssa recalls going to her first NYGA in 2020 before she was a part of the critics circle, and the next year her friend nominated her.
