I don't have any sympathy for CA residents, even the "based" ones. Its the same as not having sympathy for people who die trying to climb K2, or billionaires who die trying to see the titanic in a carbon fiber tube. Even the ones who don't vote for the retards in charge had plenty of time to see the writing on the wall.
In hindsight it is a fucking miracle there hadn't been a fire this bad before. CA was just lucky that fires mainly were contained in the mountains or stopped shortly after reaching civilization. Fires are so common, the residents don't even worry anymore. They take it for granted that the fires stop before causing too much damage.
The people living in AltaDena should have known they were in a danger zone. Azusa 15 minutes to the east was in danger of burning down just a few years ago. The two cities are at the base of the same mountain range. They drew the short stick, but don't have anyone to blame but themselves.
I tell "conservatives" in CA to move out all the time. They don't believe anything bad will happen to them. They don't want to leave their friends and family. They don't want to find a new job. They are too lazy to even look into leaving. I ask them what would happen someone grooms their children and the state take their children away because they don't want to support child gender transition. They don't think it will happen to them. Well they didn't think they'd be in danger of having their house burned down either, but now the evacuation zone creeps closer by the hour and they're freaking out.

the point of government is to wrangle the retards.

Scrap metal is a junkies bread and butter when they aren't panhandling, and when you're a cracked out sub70iq you're not thinking things like "this may end up badly". In some places they have similar issues with things like manhole covers.
was it detroit or oakland that had to use stop signs to replace all the signal lights the junkies stole the wires from? they even stole all the wires from a fancy light up bridge.

He's right. They want to put money into being gay and not into preparing for fires. First Lesbian Fire Chief. No money for planning for the same natural disaster CA gets all the time.

If this guy is the local opinion, then how can you say you have a democracy in CA? You can't. It's a have home and have home burnt down because unelected government was busy worshiping gay people.

So I’ve heard that firefighters and rigs are coming in from out of state, but is that actually going to do any good? Seems that the problem is a lack of water. I’m not sure what good more hands and trucks will be, unless they finally decide to cut losses and dig a fat fuckin ditch through LA with bulldozers. Is there an angle or a plan I’m not seeing here? Any Kiwis have any insight?

is this still going? I thought posters were saying it was dying down now. are we still at threat level midnight?
The wind seems to be dying down. Atleast in some areas. But sometimes it can get windy for weeks at a time during the winter. So who knows.

If the wind dies down then it will be easier to contain the fire.

Seeing the divide and conquer strategy successfully at play in the face of natural disasters is sad regardless of which demographic gets hit. I don't even have to think that LA is just a degenerate shithole to still think "objectively bad" when I can factor in that not everybody there is a pedophile rapist.

The firefighters will heroically throw themselves on the fire in an effort to smother it

Maybe houses or something flashing into flames, not 100% sure but radiant heat can warm up a surface that isn't in contact with the flames themselves to the point it can catch fire spontaneously, flashing ablaze suddenly. If it's a gas tank or something it could just explode.

Could be anything else, I think we have some people better informed in this thread, but that would be my guess.
Ya it's called "flashover", basically all ordinary combustible materials have an auto ignition temperature. When ambient heat reaches a certain point basically everything simultaneously goes up. It is mostly observed in enclosed spaces and is a huge consideration for municipal firefighting. It also happens in wildland fires under certain conditions but they often call it eruptive fire.
