Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

I wonder how many more fires, how many more billions of dollars in damages, how many more deaths will be needed before California realizes that the ultra conservation efforts have fucked them over.

If they let ranchers/sheep men graze problem areas, there would be less dead, dry fuel. Let the logging companies go in and take down dead trees. Clear out the tree sized sagebrush in whatever manner it takes. Send the cheatgrass packing; once it turns purple, it can and will spontaneously combust, just by rubbing against itself in the wind.

I feel for the people of California getting their shit slapped by Mother Nature, but this is a disaster of their own making.

I still remember that fake one that was standing up on one and just gesticulating nonsense during a presser, and no one knew because their face was so expressive they thought they were a real one.

I had to dig because it's common. People show up to events, say they can sign and then go hard. lol. wtf. Nelson Mandela's funeral even had one, haha:

Billions must sign!!!!!!!

So if you just wave your hands around and look constipated you can get a job by pretending to know another language? I feel like the sign language interpreter jobs will go away real quick with like an AI interpreter app so when shit like this fire happens they don't have to run around looking for someone to sign for them.

I was just about to say something like that.
What if these fags just fluff about their hands because how many official or well known sign speakers are there anyway?
and lol

Finally back, the devastation is almost impossible to put into words. The affected areas look like the War of the Worlds, countless buildings that I recognized reduced to rubble and fire. Cars melted down to the chassis, every socioeconomic level of housing transformed into unrecognizable piles of smoldering ash, debris everywhere, smoke so thick that Silent Hill would look like Miami, and billions of dollars of damage.
Against all odds, my friends tiny ass 1 bedroom house was completely untouched. Everywhere for at least at thousand feet in every direction was utterly obliterated, and we were completely dumbfounded. As we were loading the car, a fireman stopped to make sure we weren't looters. He was on the detail for that block from the night before, and straight up told us "that area was so violently engulfed in fire that we wrote it all off as destroyed".
My buddy is a bit of an atheist, but he's even he's convinced it was some sort of miracle.
It's hell on earth, and we should all take note of our fragility and weakness in comparison to the raw naked power of nature.
To everyone cheering on the devastation, I sincerely hope that you get raped to death by an elephant.
Be sure to have your friend air out his house by pushing air out of the windows using fans. AC units only recirculate air in the house, and the air quality in his house will probably be significantly worse than outside.

I wish more people understood this about California. Most of this state is stunningly beautiful wilderness, and the people living out there are as red as any midwesterner. We're just as tired of our fucked up state government and faggot governor as the rest of the country, if not more so. To be a Republican here is to be angry 24/7; I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
It really is beautiful, with perfect weather. And it wasn't always a liberal shithole, infact it used to be quite conservative. Basically from like the late 40s to 80s it was a white paradise. But you gave it all away and even now don't fight to have it back.

>I don't agree with person on what they believe
>I see bad things happen outside of their control
>I clap and cheer at the bad things happening to them
>I tell them they deserve bad things because I disagree with them
>I think this will make them stop believing thing I disagree with
>I am a fucking idiot

Next time I see someone on this site spout off how much they love Jesus and "Christ Is King", I'm looking up their ass on this thread.

For years, one of the things I looked forward to the most in a returning Republican president is the sign interpreters getting kicked to the curb from official White House broadcasts. The main video of such broadcasts get halved in size to make space for the fucking signing.

Holy shit, this. I thought I was the only one who was irritated beyond words by this. By far the dumbest example of vapid inclusivity and virtue signaling.

Fill up your bath tub or a large jug up with water in case the water gets shut off, no just for drinking water but for wet rags to throw onto embers if any start to get too close, and to put under windows and doors to block air if the smoke starts to get too bad. That neighborhood is probably so toxic rn its best to stay away or indoors at least.

Over the past summer, the media and intelligentsia spent a lot of time and effort trying to convince the public that a Black woman was capable of rising to the challenge of leading America.

Considering Kamala, Claudine Gay and Karen Bass (among many, many others), I'm not sure that Black women are capable of rising to the challenge of managing a McDonalds.

Tbf I worked at a McDonalds in high school. The middle aged black lady manager was the only one with the balls to explode on our lazy teenaged pothead asses when we weren't pulling our weight and actually scare us enough into finding some hustle.

At the time I hated her and thought she was a massive bitch, but with some perspective and seeing how slow and lazy and incompetent the people not all that much younger than me are nowadays, I have massive respect for her and her management style. She was the best one in the whole restaurant.

I wish my company and and companies I have to interact with at work could just rip a new asshole into their younger employees like she could and would.

The thing is, there is no "unified sign language." Even if you know ASL (American Sign Language), someone from Britain or Australia won't know what the fuck you're doing with your goddamn hands.

Now that LLMs have moved into the reasoning stages with the O1 and O3 models, I could see them doing sign interpretations with no problem. Token costs for those pioneer models are like 6x the current models, though, so it would be a bit spendy and a premium service, but I'm sure it'll come down quite a bit in a few years. We're seeing the nVidea mobile processors doing crazy stuff locally, too, so if you had mini-O3 models that could process locally versus having to phone home/ask a friend constantly, that would bring down costs as well.

I'm not sure what you mean by "give it away," the rural areas are still predominantly white. Hollywood shitbags and the beatniks (and later hippies) that ruined Marin have fuck all to do with us. We show up to vote every election. Do you have any idea how many people live in those counties? SF and LA are both sanctuary cities, do you suppose everyone voting there is a legal citizen? Short of killing everyone or seceding, neither of which is realistic, I'm not sure what "fight" you're alluding to.

Everything for a thousand feet around looks like fuckin Hiroshima, he's not gonna be able to move back in for a long ass time, if at all. There are no power lines, the sidwalks are shattered, his girlfriends car was melted on the street out front, and the fires are still going on nearby. We were strictly assessing the damage, and rescuing his stuff. Right now he's staying at a motel.

Podcaster Adam Carolla had to evacuate from his home in Malibu
And did his podcast in a hotel.

A quick background on Adam Carolla, born in California and lived all his life in the LA area.
His politics are middle of the road, or libertarian or based. Hates woke, DEI, political correctness, Gavin Newson, etc.. Adam rarely talks about Trump, but when he does, he supports and likes him.
And Adam Carolla's best friend is Jimmy Kimmel.

that being said, in this vid Adam talks about California politics, DEI and regulation. It's a good insight from a person who doesn't follow California shitlib politics.

When my friend's grandfather returned to his property in Paradise everything had burned to the ground except for a single truck and miraculously, his cat who had crawled into the engine compartment of that truck. I don't really have a pithy conclusion to this story except that life is crazy sometimes. Glad your friend's place is still standing.
