$3/hr is insanely cheap for Manhattan. Parking there is more like $30/hour.
The problem is Manhattan already has hideously high parking prices, easily twice that (link).
I will never complain about my home city's parking prices again.

Mall parking is PHP 40-60 (about 1 USD) for the first three hours, with additional hours being anywhere from 10-20 PHP (like 30 cents). Street parking, when allowed, is usually similar.

I didn't know how good I had it.

Bikefags suck but the kid was at fault there. He just jumped in front of the bike between the cars without looking at all. The biker couldn't have stopped in time because he couldn't see him and the child was acting recklessly. Not looking is just brainless behavior and I hope he got serious talking to because doing shit like that will get you killed.

True, the child is at fault. But the guy on the bike should have slowed down the minute he saw the bus stop. He should have assumed there was a reason it stopped. In this case to let a child cross over. The biker should have decreased his speed and started paying more attention to his surrounding even if he didn't know/see why exactly the bus stopped. It's a common fucking sense.

Urbanist civil war over anti-social lunatics on the trains.

The retard has a point but misses the underlying issue.

An elevator out or hobo inhabited once is an inconvenience. But there’s a tipping point where it’s too often, too much. And refusing to admit it’s a problem is itself the problem.

The school bus had deployed its stop signs. It is illegal to overtake a school bus in any lane while those signs are deployed. The accident road violence is 100% the biker’s fault.

So the schoolbus dropped of that child ? Didn't seem like it. Due to how short that stop was..

But yeah. It's entirely the bikers fault then.

Edit

Watched the footage entirely again. Didn't see it from the other camera angle.

Road Guy Rob directly responds to Jason Slaughter's video whining about firetrucks.

(Preservetube)

I bet Jason will be seething despite RGR agreeing a lot with the idea of traffic calming measures.
The last few seconds of that video are gold. Random dudes selling drinks in LA tell Rob that he’s insane to care more about bike lanes than fires.

Sadly, the comment section has been brigaded by Jason’s fans.

This comment in particular really pissed me off:

I am not going to look up the local laws, but in alot of localities it is completely legal to pass a bus with its flashers and signs out.

Many cities have deemed this a worthy sacrifice to keep traffic flowing.

This is easy, really easy, to upper/lower bound.

The deaths cannot be more than the yearly collision related deaths. And that's high, but not terribly so, and the majority of those are not attributable to street width.

The place where they can blame the fire trucks are NOT the main roads (that they could blame more on the size of a US semi truck, a much more appropriate target) but the suburban side streets. That is where the fire department actually makes a comment.

I think the red signs = stop on both sides unless it's a divided highway is pretty universal in the USA now.

The urbanist paradox of the MTA is perfect but also the MTA isn't for suburban pussies who can't handle a homeless guy living in the station screaming in their face or pushing people onto the tracks.
I wonder what that male urbanist would do if he saw a woman being assaulted?

Would he intervene and put himself into danger?
