Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

How strong are the fires right now? Or are they finally dying down. I am under a rock currently lol

"maximal punishment".
Yyyeeeeeeeeeeeeesssss, it's time they punished those pesky Maximals.

The shifty fucks the run California will have no problems finding loopholes or other ways to waste that money. FEMA should declare it a disaster zone and seize the burned land and put it under federal control. If California is too retarded to manage their own shit and stop it from causing billion dollars in damages, then they can have it taken away from them. I think eminent domain is one of the most evil things the government can do, but for California I'm willing to make an exception.

Newsom already put in a state law that forces cities to put in high density Low inome housing and if thye don't do their own projects they turn their (donors) real estate developers loose with effective to put in whatever dystopian monstrousities they want to build. Dont' want your Pop. 6000 town to have a sudden influx of 500 units of housing for niggers, methheads, and cartel mules? Too fucking bad.

So what I'm saying is that might as well do to California state what they've already done to their cities that don't want massive cultural enrichment.

Headlines that cover actors and celebrities losing homes is not going win any sympathy points.

The people publishing them know that, but it doesn't matter since it will get a lot of clicks. If they really want to maximize the attention they should try to dig through the celebrities' social media accounts to see if they made any disparaging remarks about disasters in other parts of the country and confront them with that. No one feels particularly bad for the millions who can afford to rebuild out of pocket and if they're hypocrites people will revel in their suffering.

POLICE CHIEF DOESN'T KNOW DEATH TOLLS

That's not surprising and they won't know until they've had time to figure out who's still missing and to go through the rubble looking for remains. There are probably a few people who were too old or infirm to escape without assistance and in a time of great panic, they might be forgotten about.

DA said they're going to prosecute to the "maximal punishment".
Is he going to actually or is that too racist?

It's a new DA that ran on a tough on crime policy and beat the previous one (George Gascon) who had the ineffective light on crime policies so bad that even a bug hive like LA wouldn't keep him around. He was elected just a few months ago and I think he's going to make an example of these people because and even the people who might normally raise a stink know they'll look like complete assholes for trying to defend criminals who were looting during a major disaster where people were losing their lives.

For all the people posting that this won't change California's politics, there are two things to think about. It's multi-million dollar homes being burnt down. How much of the city's revenue from property taxes do those homes represent? Corrupt politicians have power because they have tax money to throw around. That money just evaporated. There is going to be huge pressure to use all the city's funds on necessities, and if the politicians try to use the decreased revenue on their personal projects, it will have to come out of things like trash collection, police budgets, roads, etc. The things that directly impact people's lives and that they notice. If they try to shore up their political power at the cost of maintaining a functional city, it will increase the pressure against them, not alleviate it.

The other thing is the multi-millionaires are also likely the ones who make significant political donations. All that money just evaporated, too. The donor class is suddenly going to have to use all their reserves to try and rebuild their lives. They aren't going to be making the kind of donations that they were before. And even if they do still have spare change, they are going to be personally affronted by the current political class, and are likely going to rethink to whom they are donating. That's another pile of money that just vanished, that the political class can't use to maintain their corruption.

Now I my be misremembering as a lot of you shitposters blend together, but I'm pretty sure you've said some particularly ghoulish things towards towards "the chuds" in the past. I remember one instance where you said something so egregious that the rest of the thread collectively came together and shit on you. So for you to try to pull the moral card here is like the pot calling the kettle a nigger.
No while I have intense disagreements with @MadStan and have definitely called him retarded before I do not believe I’ve ever seen any posts from him wishing ill on anyone like that or anything ghoulish.

yeah it feels like these fires were planned more than an accident. Just like what happened with covid. there was no mass plague, it was just a huge power grab while they toted record high profits and then pretended they were going out of business the next year and shrinking their workforce.

Dump sand on the fire! Dump fire on the sand!

Another dumb Q: if you were faced with a fire approaching your neighbourhood, would pre-emptively hosing the shit out of your house and local area reduce the effects of the fire? Or are they way too hot even for that?
It would be like pissing in the ocean. The radiate heat given off by wildfires is truly something that has to be felt to understand, the water would quickly evaporate then your house/area would catch fire. Even if you have an extensive sprinkler/irrigation system set up if the fire is hot/big enough house home is toast. I've seen some people save their homes in other fires by bulldozing all the grass/trees/vegetation on and around their homes, but thats not very helpful as the average joe doesnt have the equipment laying around or a large enough space to clear around their home.

I've been puzzling over incident reports trying to figure out what the fuck is going on with the Eaton Fire (more blue collar/working class area per @George Lucas) and noticed some interesting comparisons with the Palisades Fire (rich, Malibu). Note that there has been no updated report from Eaton since yesterday at 7 pm so all of those numbers must be underreported by this point.

Palisades: 17,234

Palisades: 0

Structures Threatened
Eaton: 37,438
