red rover red rover lord psychodin actually no you're probs good where you are tbh

For me, personally, I cannot wait for the QCS cool kids to start hammering the white noise filter on actually good posts in threads.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they think giving FYAD and DnD a way to effectively downvote posts is a good idea. They already abuse the report system and this will just mean the posts don't even get reviewed by a mod and people won't get punished for abusing it.

A lot of gibbis posters just seem resigned now. Lowtax backing down to the admins has killed any last shred of misplaced optimism which might have existed. I hope they enjoy their new content creators, because I don't think many people will just relocate to other subforums.

That was the first thing that immediately popped into my head. There's no fucking way that would ever work; it would just be used as a "I don't like this" button the second it was implemented to silence those with different opinions.

Once again, the users are right. A voting system that removes/hides posts isn't the answer, probating/banning shitposters is. But that requires having mods that aren't trash so it'll never happen.

It also requires a userbase who won't jump to defense of whitenoise posters like Sid Vicious, who did deserve his permaban but for a different reason than was given. SA doesn't have that and hasn't had it since like 2005.

Well lets be clear, it does "work". Look at reddit and imgur. The problem is what happens after it starts working.

Enforcing fair use of some "white noise" voting system would double or triple the work the mods have to do. All it's gonna do is make the forum even more of an echo chamber where anyone outside the cool kids' lunch table gets buried.

It would take the blame off the mods, though. If posts get downvoted into invisibility then "users" bear the responsibility, not the mods. It would just give DnD a way to get rid of "problematic" posts anonymously instead of complaining about them publicly and getting told they're whiny little bitches.

Our dear friend @Lowtax sure is hard at work....

@Lowtax you fucking manage these guys, stop listening to them cry about how fucking hard their jobs are.

An automated Digg/Reddit downvote system serves no purpose other than to make the moderators jobs at ruining the website easier by making more people responsible for ruining the website.

It's like you looked at the situation and recognized that terrible subgroups are having your moderators and admins be thought police and your solution is to hire more thought police so the admins will stop complaining about how hard it is for them to ruin the forums.

Why don't you just pay someone to create a bot that gasses 10% of threads and probates 2% of posts and it will do the same fucking job, except something funny might accidentally get through since it isn't being passed through tumblrina or middle aged fat liberal delicate bitch sensibilities.

Listen up guys, the moderating staff at Something Awful is far from perfect but they are just normal joes like you, and me. They're just trying to do their best, but at the end of the day they are just human. At least that is my take on it you may disagree and that is your right but it isn't going to change my point of view.

You think humanizing them is going to make it stop?
I think you underestimate the sociopathic tendencies of this forum.

You are entirely right, but that doesnt excuse them for abusing their power. or was the stanford prison experiment not indicative of anything at all.

the situation isn't equitable since I don't get 100% free reign to decide what is or is not allowed to be posted.

The entire point is that neither should they. Especially when you have a provable trend of bad decisions that only hurt the community that lasts years.

Regular joes would say "Okay hey we probably shouldn't be the arbiters of comedy because we are regular joes"

Their job was to moderate and administrate, not be Judge Dredd. Over time that has been completely forgotten and now we have race obsessed, tumblr fanatic, fat liberal, completely unfunny faggots dictating what will be said and people are tired of it.

No, they're men in dresses and adult people who cry at the results of an election.

I can't tell if this is amazing bait or awful bait. Something Awful has wrapped back around into genius territory, their shit is so bad i can't discern what's awful and what's taking the piss.
