There's a big difference between not being prepared for a specific disaster that might happen once every 200 years and one that has happened every year since the dawn of time.At least in CA there's a measure of preparedness for earthquakes. Worst earthquake I ever went through was in Illinois as a kid, when the New Madrid Fault burped. In the 1811-1812 time frame there was an estimated 8+ earthquake in the New Madrid Fault area. Far as I know little or nothing has been done there to prep for another big one. When it happens gonna be a catastrophe, suggest multiple Mississippi River bridges will collapse, etc.
