He didn't lie he said legal immigration is a ok , but was put in the small print while ragging on the dems about Haitians eating cats and Venezuelan gangs taking over whole blocks . As well as the dearth of competent people, another thing they've lost is the ability to protect themselves and offer protection. Case in point, some years ago they could kill of Seth Rich and whoever the assassin was could be pretty confident there'd be no meaningful investigation. Jussie Smollet could attempt to start fatal race riots in Chicago and be confident no judge would send him to prison. (And the "Community Service" he did get, was spent stuffing envelopes in a DNC campaign office). But this has taken some major blows of late. Trump in his first term appointed a lot of non-Democrat judges. I don't just mean the Supreme Court ones. He's looking to clean house with the people at the top of the FBI, CIA, etc. (I hope!). He got elected in part because the Republicans actually got organised and made major efforts to shut down fraud on election night.

If Hillary calls you up and says "shoot this person" or "delete these records", there's no longer the guarantee that nothing will happen to you if you do it. Trump has chipped away at the Dem's untouchable status and that's a big deal.

I read Melania's memoir and it was quick, kind of informative read. The primary complaint is that she is too self congratulatory about her accomplishments and doesn't give enough tea. She does a great job of taking the high road and not adding more fodder for her enemies. Considering what those people in that church have done to her and her family over the past eight or so years I don't know how she's keeping her emotions under wrap.

Just off the top of my head they and their minions have:

* made them social pariahs in a social circle where they had previously been lauded and welcomed
* called them evil and Hitler 24/7
* debanked her and her son
* ruined her fundraisers, i.e. canceling a foster care fundraiser because muh Trump
* tied them up with useless kangaroo court cases to financially destroy them and put her husband in prison
* mercilessly censored and lied about them
* attempted to make her son fatherless and her a widow, twice
* and much, much more

I never thought much about her during Trump's first term, but I've come to admire her.

Melania hated being First Lady because it destroyed her personal life and ruined lifelong friendships. I believed, on a personal hunch, that she was going to pressure Donald into not running again so as not to subject her and the rest of the family to that treatment again. I think that, had the powers that be left Trump and his family alone, he probably would not have run again. When they all saw that they were basically going to be harassed for the rest of their lives, I think it put a fire under a lot of asses.

One of the things that no one really talks about in the media is how Trump, his family, his associates, and his supporters were relentlessly fucked with over the past 4 years. It's really unprecedented and a huge reason why Trump won.

Spokespeople for the companies confirmed the donations on Thursday. The software maker and search giant join peers like Amazon.com Inc., Meta Platforms Inc. as well as OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman in donating to the incoming administration’s fund.

Microsoft contributed $500,000 to inaugural funds in both 2017 and 2021.
