Sure, I'm mostly just napkin mathing in my head. A lot of structures aren't going to be big deals, but some are going to be $25m mansions or commercial buildings.Keep in mind a structures is considered literally anything, a shed, an RV, a trailer it doesn't mean a building.
there is still timeThis can't be Sodom and Gomorrah because Sodom aka San Francisco is still unburnt. At least Gomorrah has taken a big hit.
Im sure Russia uses the heck out of them for their heli ops.nah, MI-26s are fine airframe wise and anyone living around the mediterranean over the last 20 years knows they are the top trumps of helicopter firefighting; they are just not in the western hemisphere at all it seems. Makes the Western MiC buttmad when they are told to compete with heavy clunky soviet shit thats designed to just last forever.
you're not voting your way out of this. city governments did very little except enable real estate developmentbut it's deeper than a single man.
I know it's more than one person at fault, i was going along with the comparison of Newsoom and TrudeauI dunno dood. NYC thought Eric Adams would fix shit. I know, it's just a mayor, but it's deeper than a single man.
Because he didnt, but 100 hours in MSPaint did.
KEK! God really wants this motherfucker to burn and I don't blame him. I do too. Every fucking thing.Did we catch this? One of the Firefighting planes hit a civilian drone while making its drop. The plane thankfully landed safely. But is damaged and grounded. Chalk up another win for the Hell on Earth that is Kalifornia
One of the few rare and effective Super Scoopers is now out of service. I swear it's like a whole city of concentrated lolcows all exploding at once.
It's not too late, God has a funny way of getting one last laugh in.This can't be Sodom and Gomorrah because Sodom aka San Francisco is still unburnt. At least Gomorrah has taken a big hit.
Don't worry, I've been assured numerous times by Very Informed People that California is like the 6th largest economy in the world, and only poor red state meth heads who voted for Trump are prone to asking the government for welfare and disaster relief, because those stupid flyover rednecks keep living in trailer parks in tornado zone. Clearly, Californians who consistently build lavish areas in fire and earthquake prone areas and supporting an entire parasite underclass will have enough funding to handle it.I know I'm late on this, but the LA Times is reporting over 9,000 structures destroyed or damaged in the fire. Now take into account that no building in LA, much less the Palisades, costs less than $1m, that this isn't over, and that the estimate doesn't give the scope of infrastructure damage, lost businesses etc. This is going to cost north of $25b by the time we're done. Goddamn.

Yes, going onto somebodies property to tell them that so and so utility is going to cut down their trees will get a gun pulled on you. True story I used to do that for a living. Americans dont want to be told what they can or cant have on their property, even if that means their property is a wildfire timebomb waiting to go off.I'm catching up on the thread:
One of the problems with the urban/wildland interface is that a lot of the eucalyptus is on private lands, and the state can't go onto a homeowner's lot and demand that they cut down a specific tree unless it's threatening utilities or some shit. It's also to be noted that a huge amount of land in the area is federal. The state controls something like 3% of the land area in the whole state.
Also, I don't want to dunk on atheists too hard but this seems like a situation where a responsible elected official would call for a Day of Prayer. Maybe it's because local LA reporters are all Mexican but I heard more sincere professions of faith out of the mouths of TV journalists today than I have heard from any elected officials.
