((Apologies if this topic has come up before…I’m not aware if it has. Similarly, if any mod thinks this shouldn't be in the Chris forum, feel free to move it. ))
For a while now, my friends have been suggesting to me that I watch the Grizzly Man promising that it was an entertaining watch.
If anyone is interested the documentary, you can check it out here. It’s quite interesting:

I finally watched it, and while I can say that Timothy Treadwell was an interesting character, what got me the most is how “Chris-like” he was. I didn't go into the film expecting to link it to Chris, but it some parts it was incredibly distracting. Now, I’m not suggesting that Treadwell was autistic, and Chris definitely would never rough it out in the wilderness to hang with wild bears, etc… But there are some similarities between them once one starts to watch the videos in which Timothy filmed himself.
My mind first linked “Chris” in when I heard Timothy’s baby-like high pitched voice. It’s present in a lot of his videos, but it shines any time he speaks to a grizzly bear. Like Chris he seems to try to avoid using “foul language”…until he genuinely gets angry. For somebody that fashioned himself after an eco warrior, Tim acted very naively towards the natural world, intervening when he wished, and demonizing the aspects of nature that didn’t suit him. During a drought, he goes mental calling on the powers of the almighty for rain (1:12:59), and afterwards seems convinced that he is a messiah.
He convinced himself that he was the only man that could protect grizzly bears from being murdered by poachers (1:22:14), and became increasingly paranoid of visitors to the park (1:19:5
; something that reminded me of Chris and his current troll paranoia. Finally, the one video (1:23:24) that nailed it for me was the one in which he makes an ANGRY video raging at the park authorities (jerkops). The park rangers were concerned for his safety, as well as that of the bears, but all he saw was persecution.
There are more little things that are similar to some of Chris’ behaviors throughout the documentary (effeminate behaviors, tantrums, girl troubles…). Timothy seemed to be a very troubled man who couldn’t find a way to fit into normal society, until he created the Bear-Protector persona. I’m convinced that many of the reasons why my friends found Treadwell so fascinating are similar to why I found Chris so fascinating (albeit Chris offers a lot more in terms of “crazy” behaviors). Now, if I could only get them to give the CWCiki a try…
