The Bible has a name for people who practice this behavior: Thieves. I just happened across a YouTube short from Robocop 1 (the original, not the 2010s "reboot" attempt) showing the final confrontation between Robocop (Murphy) and Boddicker (played by the guy who played Red Foreman on that 70's show). It starts where Boddicker (ostensibly the big bad, but the even bigger bad was the corpo who was funding him) smugly drops his weapon to trigger Robocop's internal programming to restrict him from shooting, while his accomplice is positioning a crane to drop a shitload of debris on him, with the hopes of killing him and at least incapacitating him. Boddicker correctly notes that once he is unarmed, Robocop's internal programming prevent him from firing. Robocop can not use lethal force unless it is absolutely necessary. Given his tank status, very few things are a threat to him, so he is normally restricted to overwhelming but non-lethal force. The gloves only come off when he must act with supreme imminence to stop a murder in progress or something actually threatens him/others (when his human partner is in tow, he can use lethal force because she IS flesh and blood).

Anyhow, between the glasses, the arrogance, the psychopathy and the pure delight he experiences when he realizes he can weaponize Robocop's moral limitations against him remind me supremely of Ashton and they make me seethe. Well, not really, but they certainly have the potential to. Everything seetheworthy about Boddicker here applies to Ashton as well.
