Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

Not if they're allowed to hire illegals to do the rebuild. That money will leave the country just as fast as the money buying all the Chinese drywall, fasteners, appliances and everything else that needs to be purchased now.
Drywall and fasteners still made in large amounts here, fasteners especially in the midwest. Appliances will vary by brand.

Although I'm sure cali will cheap out and buy the chinkium crap

So I’m not sure when full death tolls are typically reported, but I’ve been seeing that the death toll is reported to be just 10. That sounds like a lot of bullshit to me and I’d guess it’s in the hundreds at least, but who knows, am I being retarded?
Chances are it’s over 50 and under 500. Why do I have such a big gap? Because I really don’t know how many junkies and homeless didn’t make it out. I am also talking about as of writing this. The death toll could climb significantly if the fires keep spreading in such a densely populated area with so many people who don’t have access to any form of communication and shelter. And let’s not forget there has been looting going on which probably also means robberies and at least some of those will end on a bad note for one of the parties involved.

Thankfully everyone I know in Southern Cali is safe and giving me updates.

It's not bullshit. Simply because nobody has the time or resources right now to start going burned out out house by burned out house yet, checking for remains.

They also don't seem to have been posting numbers to report anyone missing. I get the feeling nobody has begun the critical process of going around to the evacuees with a clipboard to start building the database of where people are so families can find them.

That's one of the more shocking things. They've evacuated hundreds of thousands. But there is no footage of shelters. Or instructions of where to go. Just "get on the highway out of town". Are they still sitting in their cars somewhere?

Lol the claim that there are only 5 deaths is akin to the soviets reporting the death toll from the Chernobyl disaster to be only 31. That number has been unchanged since 1986.
It's absolutely insane that we are tolerating this level of absolute LYING. This absolute fake Soviet-level of making up bullshit, then claiming we have to believe it.

Tomorrow, if we claim more than 5 people died in this, they will be rounding us up for "disinformation."

So some claim that a bigger one, 8.0 is on the way (doubt):

But if so that and a tsunami taking out San Francisco and NorCal would make this the Cali Trifecta by which the entire US wins big at the track.

Pray hard, kiwis.

This is retarded. Insurance would never work this way. Insurance companies purchase insurance themselves via companies like Lloyd’s. Nobody is sitting on a pile of money waiting for a 100 year catastrophic event.
As regulated as they may be they still seem to fuck over the average consumer on a regular bases.

I may be Joe retard on this but I keep seeing large numbers tossed out about devastation the fire caused and how it's going to be impossible for insurance and reinsurance to cover it all. All I can wonder is how, when they operate on such large volume are they not able to cover a disaster that their number crunching nerds could forsee as happening.

For earthquakes, insurance companies are required to do exactly that because of the number of companies that defaulted/went bankrupt after the 1994 earthquake. Expect this to happen for fire.

Insurers have also been fleeing California because for things like fires there is usually someone to sue and recoup some of the payout from. The last big, big fire was caused by the west coast utility monopoly but Newsom immunized them against responsibility for their failings so Insurers have decided its too risky and costly to operate in Cali.

I have a friend who pays something like $7,000 a year for really crummy earthquake insurance. It has a $350,000 deductable and only covers reconstruction. Its also sort of hilarious in how utter shit the industry is because its a townhome so because the community signed up with this insurer, this insurer would handle any rebuilding. And if you don't buy insurance from this company, they will charge you whatever cost of doing thier rebuild is. No option to rebuild yourself, you will pay a portion of what they expense the project to be.

In summary, California can't fall into the ocean fast enough.

Tortoise is confirmed (or presumed) dead by the pothead.

She was more upset about her books burning up than the tortoise. Fuck this witch.
This shit makes me super mad. Tortoises are chill and slow growing and don't hurt anyone. So "naw fuck taking this 60 year old creature with us, need to bring by fuzzies. He's ok in his burrow.

I sincerely feel like things are being hushed up and downplayed.
Why?
Well at best California leaders are incompetent, at worst? This whole thing with all it's damages, injuries and death is planned and on purpose.
I look at the grins on Newsom and Bass and think the things that I think but don't need to post about.
You get it.

I saw a video earlier of the owner of a goofy family-run museum in California being interviewed about losing everything. The guy looked like he hadn't slept in days and was dirty with soot. I also saw another video of a horse standing along in a paddock next to what was presumably a dead horse on fire with trees burning in the background. I was not able to ascertain if it was from these fires or not but if not, that's a huge coincidence.

It's fun to laugh at California's incompetence and meme about L.A. but the above is why I just can't find it inside to celebrate this as some big W. I'm not virtue signaling (like I said, memes are fun) but edgelords are retarded.

If he was dug down in his burrow there may not have been time to dig him out by the time it became evident that they needed to leave RIGHT NOW.

The one time I was in an actual fire I barely had time to search 3 small rooms and grab my neighbor's cat because the dumb furball was hiding in a back corner of the closet. Fire spreads fast and smoke spreads even faster.

Tomorrow, if we claim more than 5 people died in this
I distinctly heard an LA newscaster say ten confirmed deaths while interviewing a relative of a deceased woman very early this morning so they are slowly getting there. By 2035 we might learn 10,000 died, and they'd still wouldn't be finished counting.

Experienced an electrical fire once. I was a teenager. Maybe circa 2006. My dad had the genius idea of plugging a bunch of stuff into a power strip. Needless to say it got overloaded and I woke up to smoke alarms. The fire spread pretty quick but thankfully in that house we had multiple fire extinguishers and I had the foresight to turn the breakers off.

It still caused about 15K in damages.
