In retrospect, this post was dumb. There was
more evidence of these
wounds than I initially realized. I guess it can't yet be proven that these were the result of IDF gunfire, but either way, it's a pretty horrible situation.
I still find the X-rays super sus, even beyond the baseless claims of intentional targeting of children by IDF snipers. Why are there no skull fragments? Why are the bullets not deformed? Why is the brain matter not destroyed? I've seen people act like their factuality is proven, but all I've seen is experts saying that there's no definitive proof that the X-rays are fake and that
maybe a bullet could ricochet and lose enough momentum that it could
possibly penetrate a skull and not be damaged and not destroy the brain and shatter the skull. They bring up some rare examples of people being shot and discovering the bullet years (or decades) later... but what Dr Syed described was "The patients came in either dead or critical, and died shortly after arriving," so more extreme (and visible) damage is to be expected. Perhaps there is a way for a bullet to enter the head without deforming or shattering the skull or destroying much brain matter and perhaps such damage could still be immediately (or almost immediately) fatal and maybe this happened multiple times in Gaza in the one month that Dr Syed was there... but why are
all of Dr Syed's X-rays like that? It has not been proven, it just hasn't been definitively debunked (but it seems very, very unlikely to me)
A comparable situation is the Patterson-Gimlin film
No one has been able to debunk it, but that definitely doesn't prove that it's not just a man in a gorilla suit walking in front of the camera, and at a certain point it's up to you to decide which is more likely. As I see it, the options are a) Patterson (who was currently filming a docudrama about Bigfoot) decided to fake some footage of Bigfoot (something he would have had to do anyway for the film he was working on) and then was so proud of the result that he decided to just try to pass it off as real or b) giant ape creatures live in the forests of Northern California and will walk out in the open, but to this day, over 50 years later and with the proliferation of cameras and drones and increased interest in Bigfoot no one else has managed to record one
or found the remains of one. I
do not have definitive evidence that a is true and b is not, but common sense says that a is a lot more likely.
In the same way, I don't believe that Dr Syed came across multiple children who happened to have one-in-a-million headshot wounds in a month and took X-rays of them right before they died, but didn't get a single X-ray of a child with a normal headshot wound. I believe that she had kids who had suffered wounds lie down on a bullet while she took an X-ray so she could make some Pallywood propaganda. I don't have definitive evidence that one is true and the other isn't, but one seems a lot more likely.
