I get his reasoning here even if I think other games are more qualified for worst. The remake is inferior to the original in almost every conceivable way and yet it is now going to be the "standard version" that gets ported into the future. The enshittification of Silent Hill 2 was a two decade long process of Konami failing to release non-degraded ports of one of their most acclaimed video games due to missing source code, until they finally decided to leave the remake up to the geniuses who made this...

This is your daily reminder that you can play a remastered version roughly equivalent to the PS2 original on your PC entirely for free via abandonware and the restoration patch. There is virtually no excuse to not try the original if you have a computer from beyond the turn of the century.

I absolutely disagree, tank or limited control schemes and fixed camera angles 100% make horror games scarier.

If you smoothly turn 360 degrees and no scope an enemies head it makes a game significantly less scary because enemies are less of a threat.

There's a reason indie horror games often have fixed camera angles and tank controls even when they're Unreal 5 games and it's not necessary.

That shit just objectively fucks with your head more and makes the experience scarier.

The controls aren't even bad. You can switch to the "2D" controls in the menu and it feels way better. I played the enhanced edition on my living room TV just last year, with a controller, and it was amazing. I'm a woman in my 20s. I was emulating the OG on a shitty laptop back in 2014 or so. Normies have no excuse.
