I love jeet food and the shit they do with pulses and chickpeas specifically is awesome. I would not eat anything in India though because everyone I know who went there and ate food there other than in carefully curated places got food poisoning. It's amazing how many jeets there are considering they deliberately live in a giant biohazard that far surpasses even the worst places in Africa.

Anyway, it's not so much a compliment to India as a disparagement of the disgusting, unnatural slop corporate veganism is trying to force on us.

When I make a Japanese style curry it's insane the amount of onions I use. Any time I make a batch of Jap curry there are at least two onions in it, and if it's only two, they're huge.

@glue eater you're thinking of Jains. They tend to be lacto-vegetarian and don't eat any roots because they don't want to hurt insects and microorganisms.

If you are going to drink rubbing alcohol you need to also drink some normal alcohol.
My memory is a bit hazy now of university chem lectures, but the lecturer always said keep a good bottle.of whisky in the lab just incase you accidentally drink some.
From memory it's because the liver breaks down alcohol in 2 stages, but the rubbing alcohol breaks down in a way that would skip the first, so that your body doesn't get the signal to start producing the 2nd enzyme. If you take some ethanol alongside, it will kick start that process and you won't go blind (from acetone build up I think it was)

That was a fun class, for the end of term we brewed and distilled whiskey. We were the last lot to do that, it was making cheese or something after that lol, we didn't even get sloppy drunk or anything.

I believe you are thinking of methanol poisoning. I don't think hand sanitizers have methonol in them, they are also ethanol. The main reason you can't drink them is that the companies put a puke agent in them, so you can't really use it to get drunk.

It's not that the body doesn't produce the second enzyme, it's that they can't react with it. However, the one that they do interact with to produce toxic metabolites, prefers to interact with ethanol, so if you get shitfaced drunk, it occupies all the possible reaction sites and so you just piss out the methanol and isopropanol without any great injury.
