Genuine question from someone who has only loosely followed Chantal: How much of this diet fad bullshit and then immediately stuffing her face with fast food is caused or at the very least exacerbated by social media? Obviously she is dependent on YouTube money and a huge part of that is because she eats food so it must be a very weird relationship.
Imagine you are an actual drug addict of today. You have always had an issue but it was not out of control. Your oxy kelp you going and while you couldn’t not take it, you kept it at X pills a day. Those pills cost, and your boyfriend doesn’t approve But it’s mostly controlled. You did lose a job once because you were high but your boyfriend doesn’t why. He does want you to get amother job.
People are making money on YouTube so you try that. You can do videos high And no drug testing.
You start to find an audience with makeup and chat videos, and you can take a couple pills and have a chat with approving friends. You know the drugs are bad and you are doing ok so you decide to cleanse- but it’s hard, you don’t really want to and so you start up again. You lie about being clean for a while but glassy eyes and slurred speech always gives it away, so you quit again, start again.
Money starts to come in, so you increase the dose to chase the high. At some point, you have enough cash to try a little heroin, and that's when everything starts getting out of control. You stream through your decline- the filth you live in., your chasing around a crackhead who laughed at you. You lose your dignity, boyfriend, hygiene. You are a full blown drug addict, too lazy to take out the garbage. But your money is sky high.
Yet you have a large YouTube audience by now. Many are addicts like you. You feel powerful and like a leader in one minute and in the next, you know things are going off the rails. You’ve lost all inhibitions, so you do OF, shave your head, go weeks without showering and dint care for pets.
As you get deeper into your addiction, people are really noticing and starting to talk about it and the decline they see. So you need more drugs to drown out the noise, but you have also lost what little emotional control, and people make you mad. So you rage at them, worry about money, say you’ll quit, then don’t. You like the attention but really need the money. Over and over you do this. You are too out of it to understand you’ve done the same thing hundreds of times. People start falling off, they don’t like the anger and drug use.
Money becomes unreliable and you’ve lost most of the viewers who cared, and heroin can be gotten cheaper because it’s laced with Tranq. It’s dangerous and will do gruesome things to your body but you feel you can’t live without it. You say you quit but don’t, again.
You’ve come to despise your YouTube channel because it feels like work and all you want to do is get high. But you need that money for drugs. You have also pushed away everybody in your life so you need watchers to fill the emptiness But nothing does.
Your life has imploded, you find yourself in a barren wasteland with a scammer taking your money. with tranq sores beginning to rot your body. You know you should quit but can’t. The people who watch you are either waiting to see how you’ll die, addicts who think they are better than you because they don’t have tranq sores, and a small few worried about your health. Everybody is on you, talking about you, making videos about you. It’s not fun at all anymore. You vacillate between lies to appease them but the pull of the drug is too strong. All you can talk about while filming high is getting your next high. You are trapped and it’s all you want.
Chantal is now at the point where her arm is rotting off her body from injecting it with tranq, It needs to be amputated, she needs hospitalization, and she needs to get clean and learn how to take care of herself-but if she does that she’ll have lost her audience, her money, her man and her drug which is all she has. She doesn’t see light at the end of the tunnel. She only had brief glimpses ever in her life but they are gone for good.
Chantal is less sympathetic than most Kensington Park tranq addicts because she has had people counseling her to do the right thing all the way. Every fork in the road, she took the wrong turn. Some believe her mother was too lenient when she realized she’d spawned a demon child, but most of those Kensington park addicts had mothers who were also addicts and were prostitutes; they had no fathers and were fending for themselves by age 5, all exposed to sexual abuse and early drug use. Chantal had a great life compared to that. She was born fucked up and is living her destiny.
So, when you say it’s a complicated dynamic, in a sense it is. The interplay between her overeating, her YT channel, her husband in Kuwait doesn’t make for a very weird psychological interplay. Substitute drugs for food and it’s her story.
Like all addicts (whether it’s physical or psychological) she lies. She enjoyed YT for a few years but now I think she hates it and only wants the money for food and Salah. I also think she still hopes a miracle will happen and she’ll have the accepting audience she had briefly in the crackhead era, but that’s gone forever and Plain Cheeseburgers is gone for good.
Holy Shit this was long. TL:dr Chantal is the same as any addict who needs money and blows up their life and health.
