When you're on the road, you're not limited to fast food, and even within half a mile of any major highway is just about any cuisine and price point you can imagine.

When you are on the road and there is a serious accident you can take a 100 mile detour for a more scenic route that takes the same amount of time instead of sitting in stop and go traffic. Imagine that, exercising free will and ability instead of just being a good little consumer.

Train food is nice when it’s the only option you have (on a speeding train) but few commuter rails have it (and usually as an accident of using a section of a longer schedule as a commute).

Just like a meal on a plane is better than nothing but also nothing to write home about.

Food at the terminal, much like food at the airport is more expensive too. They have a captive audience and they know it. The smart thing to do is to pack your own food ahead of time. That's what I do when I fly. Last time, I saved half the massive sub I ate the night before for the plane ride and had some snacks for good measure. Cost way less than a comparable meal at the airport.
