Fortnite, as everyone knows, is a game that caters to children. From pop culture icons like Peter Griffin, to an entire Lego game mode. Now, they're reaching wider and trying to absorb a more competitive hardcore playerbase by taking notes from the popular game CounterStrke, which pioneered the 5v5 objective based format. This is especially interesting, since Fortnite is cross platform and has a large audience of children. It seems the format encourages console players, a large margin of which are children with controllers, to play against people on PC's, most of which are adults and all will be using mouse and keyboards in a team based, fast paced twitch shooting atmosphere.
Also, Fortnite is gay

Fortnites CS mode is actually one of the worst things I've ever played, I really think they should've given it another 6 months in the oven before teasing it and shipping it back in December. Its a 50/50 on if your game is going to be a 6v3 or if you'll even be able to move or shoot when you do get into the match. Those bugs I just said are so common I literally dont see how Epic never ran into it during the playtesting of the mode

i would care about the game if they made more official team focused no-build gamemodes. The building is still incredibly fucking gay and BRs are boring trash collection simulators.

I thought the 5v5 objective based game was really interesting, albeit really fucking stupid. Obviously, if you have money on console you'll just play something else, like Siege. If you have a PC, you'll just play CounterStrike. So the audience it attracts is a majority kids, regardless of fortnite being a childs game.

I'm guessing fortnite is going to stay, barring some awful business decisions. As I'm writing this it has 2.5 million online players, while the newest call of duty has 85k (lol).

I hadn't considered that, but you're probably right. It makes sense business wise for them to create a medium to exchange skins and stuff, where they can take a small percentage as the middleman. Gross as it is *cough* Steam *cough*

I don't think it would ever replace CounterStrike either, I'm biased though since I've played from Condition Zero to modern CS. Epic trying to implement a highly competitive format in Fortnite is something to watch, though

I won't be watching. Like I said multiplayer has too many no life sweats for me. I haven't seriously played a multiplayer game in years.

I think it's genuinely something that's going to be relevant for another decade. I mean, when I first got into online multiplayer games it was call of duty world at war, and only recently has call of duty kind of fallen off the cultural bandwagon. It was the center of consoles for 10 years.
I tried ballistics for the first time today, out of a morbid curiousity since CounterStrike became too sweaty for me to enjoy it a few years ago. It's what you'd expect, baby's first CS
 
Fortnite No Build actually looks pretty decent. The whole zoomer tism quake building type shit is what really put me off it, whereas the alternative was malaysian pubg and what have you.

What I don't get is fortnite doing the whole "universes" and branded shit like.. Weezer Town?
