Let's Sperg Fortnite is now CounterStrike - Fortnite Ballistic is a new game mode released mid December 2024, which features an objective based 5v5 team game

So recently friends of mine committed the horrible sin of getting me into Fortnite. I usually play Zero Build mode, and I've won a few Victory Royales--twice in a squad and thrice solo, though only the third one counts as I've heard for your first outing the game will pair you against bots.

.... How do you stop yourself from being addicted to Fortnite? I've played it so much I've started to get loopy.

Thread Tax... as someone who has never played CounterStrike, what are (or were) the major defining differences between it and Fortnite?

Also what the heck is "Fortnite OG" and all those other game modes? I know what Rocket Racing is but a lot of the other stuff makes me like "huh?" Fortnite OG didn't seem that different from regular Fortnite.

Fortnite OG is a version of Chapter 1, Season 1 of Fortnite, but with modern character movement. I think they're planning on going through the seasons, kinda of like a Fortnite version of World of Warcraft Classic.

Fortnite Reload is battle royale, but instead of one kill and you're out, you have a number of "reloads" (basically lives). If you play in a squad, you have infinite reloads until your entire squad is wiped out at the same time.

There are two music modes that are basically Guitar Hero/Rock Band. One is where you play in a band with other players, and one is where you compete with other players in a tournament.

There are two Lego modes. One is a Minecraft rip-off, and I think the other is probably a Roblox rip-off (though I never played Roblox).

There is, of course, a couple of racing modes. I haven't played much of them, but they're fairly basic racing games with some gravity effects.

There are then the hundreds of thousands of user made experiences, that range from RPGs to countless Among Us ripoffs.

Roblox itself is not really a game, its more like a lobby for hosting user-made content.

I did Rocket Racing. I had fun at first... but I absolutely fucking hate the gravity shit because its so easy to get disoriented and steer the wrong way (which happened to me several times).

Its just not fun because you have no opportunity to test out the tracks before being thrown into a race, so I kept having an experience of feeling like I was falling victim to "gotcha" traps for beginners.

I played it when it first showed up and it was total ass. No movement staples, sluggish shit, vague capture points and you die permanently. Kept getting lasered by enemy team and my bullets weirdly not hitting them despite me having them in my crosshairs. Dog water mode unless it's changed since early access. Counter strike this is not.

Actually it's a bit closer to RUST than minecraft. Pretty solid chilling type game and it gives you good XP but it's unclear of how and when most f the time. They nerfed the armor upgrades severelyt hough so fighting brutes is a pain in the ass now across the board. Thankfully human enemies in the artic biome don't liquify you anymore with bizarrely low level gear. God I fucking hated having to kill guys that could stunlock me with a purple tier sword and they drop fucking GREEN swords.

Counter strike is a 5v5 shooter with a huge emphasis on precision, teamwork, logic and tactics. 1 player screwing up their role will cause a team to fall apart, or at least be handicapped. There really wasn't reason to compare fortnite to CounterStrike until Epic decided to make a CounterStrike inspired gamemode.
