"Current Year" trends that piss you off

Adverts that think they're clever by inserting the most obnoxiously trite attempts at poetry ever, especially if they fail to even advertise the product that the advert's supposedly about.

The Niggerization of language in this day and age both concerns and infuriates me. For some reason blacks seem to feel the need to abbreviate every word in the English language, the head niggers broadcast abbreviations to their nigger underlings, the nigger underlings then broadcast that via social media to impressionable (and retarded) young white men and women - and as such the English language is lobotomized more and more with each new TikTok trend and forced viral, algorithm driven, "meme". The same could be said for the Feminization and Sterilization of language - just replace "niggers" with "women and faggots", "lobotomized" with "castrated", and "TikTok" with "YouTube".
Late, but I can't agree with this more.

As an extension of this point, young white men and women who 'talk like niggers.' Expressions, common phrases and sayings, even basic words that are endemic to my country are replaced wholesale by niggerslang - sometimes second, third, and fourth-hand by people who don't even know the origins of such words.

Everyone becomes retarded, and that language, for them at least, will never be recaptured. Can you imagine your average 80 IQ NPC going through a list of 'proper' expressions and phrases, and actively committing to learning them, AND using them in daily life? Unfathomable.

Such is my nigger fatigue in real life that I've said to several young guys in the gym 'why are you talking like a nigger?' Interestingly enough, they look embarrassed when I make them realise what they're doing.

Blue and Pink neon lights in streams/videos. What is this obsession with making all the slop content even sloppier by everyone trying to make themselves look exactly the same as everyone else? And why do you want to make your room look unnatural and painful to the eye?
Color changing/multicolored lights in general are fucking ugly and tacky. They clash with any remotely tasteful environment and they're on everything. Can't buy a speaker or a charger or a fitted kitchen without ugly rainbow lights. Now everywhere looks like one of those sensory rooms for autistic tards.

As an extension of this point, young white men and women who 'talk like niggers.'
IDK. Hearing a couple of white rural kids with West Country accents unironically using Jamaican patois to sound "street" is hilarious.

The marketing of fake nostalgia. Shops trying to make one of their brand-identifying products iconic, just by talking about them as if they're iconic. Trying to insidiously implant a relationship with the brand into people's memories to parasitically tap into their emotions. M&S in the UK started astroturfing their 'percy pig' sweets like this few years ago and now theyre a key facet of their branding, trying to tell their customers they care about this random prouct line, you’ve *always* cared about this random product line, right? Our brand lives in your memories, right? Its like some sort of capitalist inception. Ugly xmas jumpers as a concept are the same; there used to be a cliche that at xmas, people got often got gifted ugly jumpers they wouldn't otherwise wear. This was just a culturally organic idea. The sort of shit lazy observational comedians would reference. Then suddenly a few years ago it was picked up by clothing manufacturers to SELL people ugly jumpers, to buy for THEMSELVES as some sort of Xmas ritual. It's all just such blatantly cynical consumerism.

>be ToroidalBoat IRL
>go grocery shopping
>see box of granola bars that's almost $3
>"oh they must be big then"
>buy them
>get home and open them
>they're these tiny little things at the bottom of a mostly empty box
>they taste sorta like cardboard

BS "shrinkflation" strikes yet again

I got these Nature Valley cinnamon almond butter biscuits. They're pretty good. But you only get five in a box that could likely fit twice that. It's so sad opening the box and seeing five biscuits just rattling around in all that space. They need to just shrink the boxes already because they are wasting packaging and energy. But they won't even if smaller boxes would be greener. Because when you see the box you think they are bigger. Maybe you don't notice how many of something you get in the box and think you must get a lot. They are tricking you into buying less product for more money.

Brand names are taking the heat for this though. The competition from generic brands is bigger now because even if they can also be subject to shrinkflation at least they are cheaper.

People that think they don't need to work. I'm not even talking about like "kids these days" kinda thing. I've seen it all over the age range now, in a Post-Covid world, people just think that they don't need jobs.

And they don't. I know people that get more from government handouts by doing nothing or getting a job for a month or so, then quitting, than I get for working 50-60 hours a week. And my job isn't even bad pay, it's some of the highest in my area that doesn't require a specific degree.

And hypocritical boomers that talk about "kids not wanting to work" while they're constantly calling off and having young people like me have to fill their shifts. In an old job, we'd have a skeleton crew running just because at least three days a week, one of the 40-50 year olds would call off multiple times in a row, for months if not years straight. But God forbid I ever got sick once a year, I'd be talked down to and treated like I never want to work despite putting more hours in a month than some people's total hours combined.

-The massive hatred towards Christianity and Christians.

-the massive hatred towards white people and/or feeling proud to be European/American, loving your culture, your history, your traditions and everything that makes your homeland so unique and memorable.

-The massive hatred towards the traditional family and the desire to corrupt it (polygamy, gay marriages with adopted children, feminism and its constant demonization of housewives or that the husband has a more important role in the family, etc...)

-The massive hatred towards anything remotely traditional or traditionally moral in general.

-Libshits and faggots sucking muslim cock.

-Libshits caring more about some random shitty middle east country than their own.

-Libshits calling everything they don't like fascism, far-right or Nazi.

-The romanticization of mental disorders and making them look like something >OMG SO HECKING QUIRKY NYA UWU :333

-The normalization of being a porn addict or consuming NSFW almost daily, even becoming proud of it.

-Troonism.

-Political propaganda in entertainment.

-Mediocre, incomplete, buggy, and overpriced videogames and consoles.

-Planned obsolescence.

-That the government forces you to sell or throw away your old car because you cannot drive with it since it "pollutes too much"

normalization of being a porn addict
There was porn before Current Year, but seems there's a Clown World freakishness with porn in Current Year. Just like with "woke", "smartphones" and "social media" may have something to do with it. And also the terms "cooming" and "gooning" weren't used before.

-Planned obsolescence.
That too was a thing before Current Year, but now it seems to be much worse. Especially with "smartphones" now.

-Mediocre, incomplete, buggy, and overpriced videogames and consoles.
Like I said, Current Year media seems to have this "crappy watered down smartphone feel" to it.

-Troonism.
The "transgender" movement seems so "astroturfed" and artificial.

The massive hatred towards anything remotely traditional or traditionally moral in general.
Seems the "woke" cult wants to break down modern "society", by framing "the old" as "problematic", and "the new" as "progress"... and after "the revolution" and "struggle sessions", rebuild the world as a "utopia". A "utopia" of city-dwelling, pod-living, bug-eating, sewage beer-drinking, sexless, and physically and mentally ill cybernetic renter serfs who own nothing and are indoctrinated "happy". Also seems that "smartphones" and "social media" are being used as tools towards such an insane and evil goal.

I think Current Year is Current Year because of "smartphone culture" combined with "social media culture" -- remove either one and Current Year could finally end already.

I hate self-loathing autistics who never try self-improvement, and blame their autism on everything, and would rather have a cure to rewrite who they are, then to put any work into self-improvement. But I also hate people who act like it is not a disability, but it's rather a superpower and that is cool to have. Those people have the effect of infantilising autism with stuff like over the top stimming to even stuff like having pacifiers. On that note, people who self diagnose themselves with disabilities then act like that is good enough and nearly always misrepresent any disability they are pretending to have.

Remaking old games instead of just porting them with a bit more polish. Stuff like Shadow of the Colossus, Dead Space or Silent Hill 2 remakes, just feel like a waste of resources. I would much rather they be given a Night Dive treatment, port the game to run on new systems, maybe add some cut content, improve some of the lighting and textures, and fix any issues they used to have, such as Dead Space being broken at higher frame rates.

Physical media that looks like dogshit. 4k movies aren't cheap. If you want to buy something like Aliens on 4k when it came out, looking at $30 minimum, but that disc is just the 2k blu ray, not even rescanned at 4k, has a fake hdr layer and is ai upscaled with leads to made issues in the image that weren't there before. While AI fuckary is not common, the use of DNR to remove grain and detail is, leading to a picture quality not worth the asking price. It's not even a case of studios being cheap, as a lot of what they are doing with DNR or AI is an extra cost on top of a normal remastering job, they are just spending more on making a product that the core of the market won't like.

Having to use a smartphone to do simple stuff like fill out a forum, or even pay a bill in some cases. What used to be an extra card, like a loyalty card, is now all a smartphone app.

Parasocial relationships are now in overdrive, thanks to social media, and the new era of famous people learning how to best use them to milk money from their fan base. The fact some fan bases now call themselves "armies" and must defeat the honour of whoever they have an unhealthy infatuation for, is even crazier than the faggotary of the "console wars".

I am probably repeating everything already said. Here’s a wall of text.

- Preying on nostalgia at the expense of new IPs. This is largely catered towards Millennials who are about to be the richest and already are the largest generation. So I fully expect a death of culture. We’re going to be getting new Disney star wars and Harry Potter shit and overly self referential bazinga Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon merch or any other crap you can think of til we die.

- I’m a zoomer and even I can’t keep up with all the new lingo. People also get looked at like they’re aliens for speaking and even WRITING in proper English. “Fr fr cuz you got a stick up ur aZz”. I am pretty sure generation Beta is going to just speak in television static.

- The culture war in general (whatever the fuck that means anymore). Can we take a break? I’ll let you troon out if you don’t doxx me if I do a micro aggression and use your “deadname” on accident. You don’t need to assume I’m evil because I’m a Christian.

-Self flagellation is cool and trendy apparently. There’s a cult of saying “I hate my country” or race or income bracket or whatever for likes.

-Self diagnosis of mental illness as well as using your self diagnosis to try to get away with poor behavior. You’re not autistic for having a niche hobby. You don’t have bipolar disorder because sometimes you get angry and sometimes you feel happy. Besides, even if you do, mental health issues help explain behavior, not excuse it.

Current Year coypright notices can be so soy. Saw one that claims in a preachy way how copyright "promotes creativity" and "enriches our culture", and how unauthorized reproduction is a "theft of the author's intellectual property" -- sounds like a SJW Tumblr post.

BTW "intellectual property" is a made-up term covering a variety of different rights like copyright and patent. Infringement of those rights is not theft in a legal sense.

On a related note, the bizarre trend among some on the autism spectrum to self-infantilize. After spending years fighting for representation and for acceptance of autism as a condition, arguing that it's just a product of human genetic variation - to some success, mind you - all of a sudden, these people in particular feel like making themselves look absolutely pathetic and incapable of doing even the most basic tasks. Autism isn't necessarily debilitating (hence why it's on a spectrum), but it's not cute, or quirky either. It's like just when the world started to throw off the old stereotypes, a whole host of new ones have come into force. Apparently, you can't be autistic unless you constantly "taip liek tHiS!!1111 owo uwu xD"

I have a suspicion a lot of the people doing this don't even have the condition, which brings me around to another pet peeve of mine: people faking mental illness online for attention. Within their little cliques on TikTok, X, or whatever other site they use, they might be able to delude themselves into thinking they've pulled it off, but to everyone else, they look like absolute twats.

Di$ney seemingly taking over Western corporate media.

Also "Cloudflare" seemingly taking over the internet.

Are there really any sites -- other than KF -- that don't run on "Cloudflare"? It really does look like they got a monoply going now.

Seems any site running on "Cloudflare" can go down any time as "imminent threat to human life", or with those BS "Cloudflare" errors.

The general American pop cultural rot (especially superheroes) has been mentioned, of course, but I just wanted to shine a spotlight on DC's recent use of raping the protagonist to spite the audience (such as in Joker 2 and Ta-Nehisi Coates' Superman story, and there's probably others in the comics). It's a particularly obnoxious death knell.

And hypocritical boomers that talk about "kids not wanting to work" while they're constantly calling off and having young people like me have to fill their shifts.
The laziest people in the workplace are boomers who have a date set for retirement. They mentally start retiring then and there. Some of them are setting dates like the end of 2027 and then are just starting to coast. I actually had to put a boomer on a performance improvement plan because once he announced he was retiring end of 2025, he decided it was totally cool to just not come back to work after lunch.
As an extension of this point, young white men and women who 'talk like niggers.'
There was an intern working for me who was quiet as a church mouse but going online to see her social media and it’s pure niggerspeak. It was amusing to see this quiet white girl act like the biggest nigger online. I didn’t mix up the names, it was definitely her.

The only real monoculture is pornography. It's the only part of culture that isn't entirely produced top-down, like TV is.

Before Current Year, "furries" were usually seen as freaks into bestiality.

In Clown World, it seems the stigma is shifting to those against "furries"?

This is the greatest evil of the millennial and zoomer generations (who are now old enough to have a collective generational sin).

We grew up EPI'd by the mindgeek guys, which was top-down—but then we grew up, and we're the ones who kept the spaces unsafe for kids. That's bottom-up; that's us.

Boomers and X'ers didn't know any better and don't understand the internet. Millennials and zoomers know that if there's no hard age verification, there's tons of kids as young as 11 in all of those adult spaces. So what did we do, stop posting that stuff where we knew kids were, knowing what it would do to them? Did we modify our language or behavior at all, knowing that the entire internet is essentially across the street from a playground—visible through the chain-link fence?

No. We (generationally) put up 🔞 emojis and said "Minors DNI", as though that were some kind of magical charm to ward them off. It was just to cover our own asses. Imagine setting up your 🔞 MDNI posts with poster-board outside of a middle-scool playground; that's what it all is. There was never any serious thought as to protecting the next generation, because we never allowed ourselves to think of ourselves as "the previous generation".

It's not even exclusively about pornography; it's about the total failure to think of oneself as having to be mindful of the example one sets to the omnipresent middle-schooler. It's about the implicit dissolution of the boundary between adult and child, tacitly and passively co-signed by two generations of adults.

We whine about boomers, but the world is ours now in a real way. We're grown men—men aren't the blind product of historical forces; we have will. We created the environment that these hypergroomed neophytes had to navigate, and it's all because we as a collective held onto the infantile idea that we should be able to behave however we want whenever we want—especially sexually, because it's something our "boomer pastors and parents" tried to "unfairly keep" from us.

That's the reality and real cause of "current year": it's the bottom-up failure of the millennial and zoomer generations to create the kind of society where furries would even be considered odd. To create the bridge to adulthood that boomer and X'er parents were too out-of-touch to provide. To grow up.

We left the door open to Hell.

I can see that "younger people do not see themselves as growing up and becoming the older ones" thing. The way "society" is going, it is harder to marry, have kids, and get one's own home, which can make it harder to think of oneself as grown-up. Also there seems to be an increase of prevalence in "arrested development" (from autism?) as well.

BTW there seems to be this unprecedented fixation on generation in Current Year, like "Millennials" this and "Zoomers" that. Before Current Year, I didn't hear generational labels that much, if at all. Especially not before 9/11. Now it is often "Boomer" this and "Generation Alpha" that. I noticed even I have used generational labels more, and there seems to be a sharp distinction between how those of the "Millennial" and younger generations act, compared to older people act. I guess it's the 'net, like you said.
