Acclaimed author Neil Gaiman is facing multiple allegations of sexual assault, making him the subject of a police complaint in New Zealand. Gaiman has offered a response as well, refuting the accusations.

Per Tortoise Media, two women have accused Gaiman of sexual assault while in consensual relationships with the author. The allegations go back two decades, but they were first reported on in Tortoise's podcast Master: the allegations against Neil Gaiman, which was released on Wednesday. The women describe allegations of "rough and degrading sex," alleging that these instances were not always consensual.

One of the two accusers, a 23-year-old woman named Scarlett, claims she was sexually assaulted in February 2022 just hours after first meeting Gaiman. According to Scarlett, the assault happened in a bath at Gaiman's New Zealand home where she was hired to work as a nanny for his child. Gaiman says that the two merely "cuddled" and "made out" that day, adding that a three-week sexual relationship ensued, but was entirely consensual. Scarlett insists that Gaiman was "rough and degrading," and reportedly, messages, notes, and accounts from friends support her allegations.

Another accuser, identifying herself as K, says she was an 18-year-old fan when she first met Gaiman at a book signing in Sarasota, Florida, in 2003. K claims that she began a romantic relationship with Gaiman after she turned 20, resulting in engaging in rough sex that she "neither wanted nor enjoyed." It's alleged that one particular incident saw Gaimain forcefully penetrating K despite her objections.

Gaiman has denied this claim as well. The Sandman author maintains that his relationship with K was never unlawful and that he's "disturbed" to be accused of such behavior. According to Gaiman, K's allegations stem from "regret" over the relationship she had when it was over. He also attributed Scarlett's allegations to a condition she has that's associated with false memories, but the Tortoise report noted that this isn't supported by the accuser's medical records.

Additionally, Gaiman has strongly denied all allegations of non-consensual sex at any time with the women accusing him of sexual assault. He also claimed that New Zealand police ignored his offer for assistance with one woman's complaint in 2022, suggesting that shows a lack of substance in the investigation. New Zealand officers have responded by saying they made a "number of attempts to speak to key people as part of this investigation and those efforts remain ongoing." It was added that there are "a number of factors to take into consideration with this case, including location of all parties.”

Gaiman has long been one of pop culture's most revered authors, bringing to life acclaimed stories like The Sandman, Good Omens, and American Gods. Just recently, Netflix has been promoting the upcoming second season of The Sandman, which is based on Gaiman's source material; he also executive produces the series.

Honestly while Gaiman was not on the top of my "insufferable and terminally overhyped geek culture retards I cant wait to get outed as sex predators for my own amusement" list (currently being topped by Wil Wheaton followed by Alan Moore) I cannot deny feeling that little bit jollier with the thought I may never have to hear him mentioned again

I read one collection of his Sandman stories a friend loaned me back in like 1992 or so. I recall there was something where people were trapped in a diner and being driven insane by Sandman, and a character decides to cure a little lesiban punk rocker of her lesbianism and thus rapes her. That's all of his work I ever had to read to know he was fucked in the head.
Details are wrong:

1. The guy driving the people insane at the diner is Dr Destiny, a JLA villain possessing one of Samdman's artifacts of power

2. The waitress/owner of the diner creates stories in her head about her customers and pretends the lesbian will eventually settle down and marry a man at the start of the story before the horror kicks in

3. The lesbian is also a violent domestic abuser and her lesbian lover just left her after being brutally beaten up by her ex (and we later meet friends of the couple in later stories that confirm the abuse)

4. The lesbian eventually gouged out her eyes and is killed off panel when Dr Destiny gets bored.

It's that he can have anything he wants that makes him want what he can't. He can fuck all the tumblr fan girls on a whim. There's no challenge or fun in it to him any more.
If a man has everything and that's still not enough for him, he's got a mental problem. The mental problem of "being an entitled little bitch-ass pussy wienerbaby".

5. Dr. Destiny makes his captives fight - one man calls the lesbian "filthy dyke bitch" and "filth. lesbo filth", then announces "All you need is a proper man. A real man. I'll show you, bitch. I'll give it to you ..."

6. Later, Destiny watches a man and a woman having sex behind the counter. All we see are hands and bare feet, but the dialogue balloons show that both of them are into it. On the next page, the lesbian is partly undressed, but the other two aren't.

The lesbian is raped, in the sense that she's mind controlled into having sex she wouldn't have consented to. And since throughout the story we see Destiny humiliating his captives in personal ways, he might have singled her out because she's a lesbian.

Neogaming did nothing wrong here these are just a bunch of angry bitter exes here's the thing I don't believe someone when they say they've been repeatedly raped by a man why are you still going over to the person's house that he's repeatedly ****** you makes literally no sense.
Then again he is a male feminist so I 100% believe these women on principle that all male feminists are sexual predators

You don't get black out drunk, you don't leave your drink or drink any glass someone else has got for you, you don't go to the bar dressed like a prostitute and many other ways you can limit your vulnerability.
But that argument has no boundary. What's your definition of 'dressed like a prostitute'?" What if you struggle to hold your drink and don't know your limits, which men do all the time? For their own safety, maybe women shouldn't go to bars at all, or maybe they should ban windows like the Taliban are doing so no men get horny knowing they exist. Why is the onus on the woman for the predatory initiative of the man? I understand what you mean about taking personal responsibility but when a woman is being preyed upon, there's a very short logical distance between 'limiting your vulnerability' and being 'a slut who deserved it'.

Bare in mind, this incident we're actually talking about is not rooted in common sense, because what Gaiman did (again, if it's true) defies common sense especially in a high trust society like New Zealand. What exactly are you supposed to do when a famous celebrity with a loyal following and your boss for a job you love rapes you in the asshole and tells you he thought you wanted it? What exactly is anybody supposed to do? One of the reasons #metoo got so much traction initially was because the men who were exposed, including Weinstein, were so appallingly brazen. There's no defence for treating women like they're some waiting sex toy.

These women were putting themselves in danger and retroactively calling it rape and they know what they were doing and should be held accountable for their actions. If you down play their actions you only encourage others to act the same way and that gets more people hurt.
It was rape. She didn't want it, she said she didn't want it, and he did it anyway. It doesn't matter how she rationalized it at the time. If this was an awkward date with bad communication it would be one thing, but this was somebody who was mislead and used by a freak who used butter for anal lube as an afterthought.

Naivete isn't something you can be educated out of. It requires bad experiences - like this one - before you're armed with the knowledge of what people are capable of. What you're missing is that many abuse victims already blame themselves for their mistakes, which is often why it goes unreported or as in this case, there's a huge delay in reporting it. All that attitude actually encourages is for people to clam up, for victims to come to terms with it by telling themselves, 'I deserved it'.

Always the self-identified feminists who are some of the most prolific abusers. I am guessing based on his marriage to Amanda Palmer that he is also a democrat. I haven't looked into his opinions but I am very familiar with Amanda Palmer.

The allegations, and I believe that all of them are true, are stomachturning.
I did not like the way the article was written, as it was a bit hard to follow when skimming. I thank the author for their service though. These disgusting freaks should all be exposed. He really defiled these already damaged women. And his kid is a victim too.

I have always and instinctively disliked Gaiman's work. There is something hollow and soulless about it, which is made far worse than other pablum because Gaiman's medium of choice is myth and legend.
Yeah, being a longtime Terry Pratchett fan I was always intrigued to get into his work but it just didn't grip me the way Pratchett did. It felt like a bunch of airy words made to look pretty, whereas Pratchett's work always had a weight to it that grounded the reader. Fucking praying right now that nothing crazy about him comes out postmortem though, I think I'd actually kill myself.

I 100% believe that Gaiman is a creep who took advantage of naive starry-eyed fangirls and others and bullied them into ass to mouth. I am grateful to witness his downfall and the tears of his annoying fans. I would like to also note that everything I have ever read about Amanda Palmer suggest she is a 100% unadulterated manic pixie BPD manipulatrix. Her purposefully grooming one of her own fucked up fans to testify about gross incidents involving Neil feels extremely plausible to me. Exactly what a male feminist deserves.

Given all the horrendous things in the article (and I agree with other people that they have buried the lede somewhat with regard to EATING DA POO-POO), it's perhaps a petty thing, but this really sticks out for me.

A week or so into Pavlovich’s time with the family, their son began to address her as “slave” and ordered Pavlovich to call him “master.” Gaiman seemed to find it amusing. Sometimes he’d say to his child, in an affable tone, “Now, now, Scarlett’s not a slave. No, you mustn’t.”

I bet he fucking chortled to himself over that. I bet he thought that was really clever. You fucking cunt, Neil. You fucking cunt hack.
