Careercow Brandon "Bam" Margera - From Jackass to Lolcow

I think Tony Hawk’s name is still fairly synonymous with skateboarding, like Hulk Hogan is to wrestling. He seems like a genuinely good dude to me, but I don’t know much about his personal life. On the surface, he seems like someone who has accepted that time is undefeated, and he’s doing we he can to prop up the next generation of skaters.

This guy had it all, wealth, a wife, kids, fame, everything. I can never understand how these privileged retards manage to fuck it up so badly, he had shit to look for in life but decided it's better to just drink alcohol and do drugs. Infuriating to follow, to say the least, what a sad weakling of a being.

Say what you want about Tony Hawk: He might be completely irrelevant and forgotten by now, but sometimes that's better than ending up as a washed up fuck up like Bam
I'm sure Tony Hawk cares about his relevance while he sleeps every night on top of his massive piles of residuals money. He just had the supreme foresight not to spend it all on drugs and stupid bullshit like ol' Bam Bam did - probably because Tony didn't start out mentally retarded, unlike Bam.

I watched the documentary they did on him a few years back called Until the Wheels Fall Off and it did show that Tony had a wild streak of partying and infidelity at his peak and it fucked up one or two of his marriages, but he's stable now.

The main thesis of the documentary, especially towards the end, is that Tony and his skater friends are slowly destroying their bodies by continuing to skate. Their injuries are really starting to affect them now that they're old, with one skater mentioning that Tony can't turn around like a normal person anymore due to all the neck injuries he's sustained. They love the sport so much that it doesn't matter, and they're all good to keep doing it "Until the Wheels Fall Off".

It's still a way more graceful path than the one Bam went down.

I wonder how different the lives of the Jackass crew would have been if the first Tony Hawk Pro Skater game didn’t pop off
Probably not much? The early success of Jackass was mostly independent of thps. Bam/CKY wasn't a part of the series until thps3, and thug2 was the first one that featured jackass cast members outside of Bam. Both franchises were well established before crossing over.

You've never heard a bad thing about Tony Hawk. He's just enjoying his life, and sometimes pops up in some collaborative video on YT and can still skate very well for as old as he is. He'll always be given high respect for being many millennials childhood hero. I still remember the insanity that he landed the first comp 900. It sent him to the moon with endorsements and a cultural phenomena with the game series.

Bam on the other hand, was a fucking shithead before he even became a star and has been on the downslope of his humanity ever since with no bottom in sight.

Some shine once fame hits and invests in themselves and their loved ones.

Then you get ones like Bam that just double down on being a fucking retard.

You may be right.

I can only speak from personal experiences, but I would have never had any interest in CKY, and Jackass by extension, if it weren’t for THPS. That game is the sole reason I ever touched a skateboard, and I’m likely not the only one - at least that’s how my friend and I got swayed.

I have a very distinct memory of a rich friend with cable Internet downloading the first CKY tape from newsgroups sometime in early 2000 and thinking it was the coolest shit ever. I think the release of THPS2 was pretty close to the debut of Jackass. More people at school were picking up skateboarding due to the popularity of the game, and we were showing the CKY tapes to get others locked in. When Jackass debuted, it was so cool to see these dudes from these somewhat underground tapes that we loved make the mainstream.

You’re right. THPS3 was the game that featured Bam, and by that time, the popularity of skateboarding and the games (again, can only speak in terms of my own experiences), began to wane. Jackass was still super popular though. It makes sense that Bam would’ve been shoehorned into the third game. I played THUG1, never 2, so I’m not sure who was part of the cast. Seems reasonable to think that the extended CKY crew would be included to coax sales since, by that time, you could acquire the tapes easily from the Internet or your local skate shop/Hot Topic.

It’s probably not accurate to attribute the success of the Jackass crew solely to THPS, but it must have certainly helped steer interest. I would have never cared about any of this crap if the first two THPS games weren’t masterpieces.

Well I watched the whole Investigative Discovery tabloid episode and with that I guess it's time to reveal that I was filmed for this piece of reality television!

Just kidding, this nerd is a BJ (That Surprise Witness) Simp who got troll's remorse and now a-logs BJ. Seriously though it's tough being an Earthrocker, Bam was written out of his own trash television! This is the Lima vs BJ documentary and with that said I'm thankful ID made it because I wanted to make a quick summary of That Surprise Witness but I never knew where to start because it's pretty boring all things considered. In a nutshell Lima Jeramovic is a glorified social worker who was hocking VR Headsets to cure mental illness (wut?) and BJ a-logged her so hard that allegedly it made Lima's mentally ill sister go nuts again believing they were sex trafficked and that Lima killed one Amanda Raab (no relation to Jackass's Raab Himself). I find the whole thing nebulous because trying to save Lolcows is a self defeating effort and being a Kiwifarms misanthrope I just want to laugh at them. To give credit where credit is due the documentary effectively shits on both Lima & BJ but it was overall really boring. The ending credit was the best moment.

3/10 - Only watch this if you really need to know about Bam's orbiters.

He started drinking and drugs at a young age, and Had enabling parents. Then he got famous, and the partying got worse. The jackass crew were all young, rich, and famous of course they were going to be abusing drugs at least 3 of them Novak, bam, and Steve-o got addicted. Nobody really decides to become an addict it’s bad decisions that get compounded until you are in too deep to get out, and unfortunately bam hasn’t chosen to grab a life preserver I doubt he makes it to 60. It’s sad, but that’s what he’s decided.

Apparently they planned on Bam having a larger role but after the scene we've all seen in the preview he refused any further participation.

Bam is special in the fact that almost every one of his friends were addicts in some form or another; and even some of them were way worse than he was, like Steve-O or Novak. But they all became clean and changed their life around. He just kept swimming down the addict river; and it speaks more to his personality than being an addict. If this was 10-15 years ago, you'd feel sorry for him; but it's been so long past the years of redemption that you'd just wish for a swift end for him

You completely understand it once you realize how he came into all of those. Some will wise up but most won't see the value of it all and think it will keep coming forever because it was so simple the first time.

Bam isn't all that special, there is a laundry list of retards who made the exact same mistakes as him. We also know how they all ended.

This is from a while back but I just remembered his "gayer than a lime green parakeet" line and it still makes me chuckle
