Jesus Christ, even if he wanted people to follow him over on BlueSky you can literally just say "Hey all, I'm moving my platform over here". I will never understand why everything is so political.

Because it isn't political, not really. The behavior is closer to the religious fervor of the recently converted. Everything my in-group says is good and right, everything that is outside my in-group is well from which evil springs. They announce so the in-group knows they are a good soldier for the cause.

Considering he left at the height of AH (A height no doubt he helped create) its pretty easy to say it was dumb of him to leave. But tbf, nobody could've predicted the total ruination of every branch of RT. But that's crony hires and 2016 for ya.
For me, it was that I wasn't able to comprehend the degree people would be willing to give money directly to someone on the internet just to get them to say their username or ask them a question. Twitch was still newer and I had more faith in people. Or I guess to be less harsh: I figured people needing to directly give money would be a hinderance to profits vs capitalizing off ad revenue etc. This was also pre-adpocalypse, so staying with RT/AH seemed infinitely more stable at the time to me.

The only weird thing about that is Gavin still hates guns. If some psycho broke into my house, held me and my wife hostage and I had the kinda dosh Gavin does, I'd own 5 guns the next day.
I am very pro-gun/pro-self-defense, but in a weird way I respect Gavin for this. To be very anti-gun and then instantly 180 on your views as soon as they're challenged would be understandable, but would show hypocrisy. To be still opposed to owning firearms after what he went through at least shows moral conviction in his beliefs, even if I disagree with him. Idk, maybe he privately holds very pacifist ideals and is strongly opposed to the act of killing, even if justified. Takes a certain kind of moral fortitude to still maintain that after something traumatic like that.

But then again maybe he just looks at what his wife is melting into (without even the justification of pregnancy/being a mother) and he knows that if he did have a gun, he'd use it (on himself)

i liked Joel too but outside of Caboose and that shortlived series he had with Adam what did he do at roosterteeth?
He made some very funny AH videos:

For somebody who hates guns he does a surprising amount of gun related content on his channel.
I don't think he really does, there's no way a TRUE BELIEVER in being anti-gun would have every spent an afternoon with Kentucky fuckin' Ballistics..... you can be pro gun but anti-personal-use.

I am.

I don't carry nor have a gun at home because I simply don't trust myself with one due to my personal history of misplacing things and being clumsy makes it more trouble to me than it's worth. Plinking cans in the yard is as far as I'll go because I know my practical limits.

But who knows? Maybe after years of being a butt monkey he's just accepted the fact that he's gonna have to do content with them and the smart thing is to not feed the trolls?

@08903248752 If that's what happened then I would have some respect for him, but that wasn't what happened. His views weren't just "challenged", they were proven wrong when someone came into his house with the intent to kill him and his, at the time, girlfriend.

The only reason the both of them are alive is dumb luck, nothing more nothing less. Such an experience should have been a wake up call that maybe he should reconsider his stance on self defense. He doesn't have to become a guy who owns dozens of high caliber firearms, but relaxing his stance to simply owning a handgun should the worse come to pass would have hardly been a stretch considering what he went through.

The fact that he claims he didn't change his mind means he is either lying to appeal to their brain dead anti-gun fanbase or just as brain dead as the rest of them. There is nothing to respect in either case.

Are the details of what happened actually out there? I just remember at the time Gavin said something like the Austin PD dealt with him.
He got into his car when he couldn't find them and shot himself. He was dead in his car when police arrived. The interesting fact is that Gavin claims he's against owning a gun, not against guns, but he doesn't want Meg owning one either. This is in light of the fact that he went on Anthony Padillas channel (I believe it was Anthony) and basically said he still had PTSD from the invasion. He's fucking stupid fully knowing that guy intended to kill him and turn Meg into his wifeslave or something worse, and still refuses to let Meg get some form of self defense and openly admits he's still traumatized from it.

From what I can recall. Guy shows up and pulls in the driveway at Gavin's house and breaks in/tries to break in. Gavin and Meg hide in a closet and contact the police. Guy searches house for them and lucky for them can't find them. Police arrive and block his escape. Guy shoots himself in his car.

As others said it was dumb luck because he couldn't find them when he broke in and searched their house. Had their attacker been a bit more persistent or had he arrived when they were not able to hide, both of them would have very likely died that day.

I remember him being quite anti-gun on the RT podcast. Maybe he has changed his stance since then, not owning a gun is still extra-special retarded given what they went through though.

It's darkly funny that he's fine with her having an OF, but puts his foot down over her having a gun.

Don't worry guys, he's got it.
