Budapest has nice buildings though it is shabby.
"Hova lett" is a great album.

Albania has nice folk music.

Went there on a solo holiday after I finished my masters.

Ended up buying a piece of embroidery in a gilt frame from a Serbian antiques seller. He recommended a fellow Serb nearby who owned a restaurant, and the guy ended up giving me a free meal (and a glass of absinthe) once I mentioned who recommended me.

Sundry other experiences too, very nice people, wonderful country. I literally saw zero niggers or browns when I went, which was of course a bonus.

Cheap cigs, hot stew on every corner, good wine in the form of Georgian black, tokaj, and bulls blood.

I really want to try it
It's super easy, you should make some this weekend.

All you need - chicken pieces (bone in, skin on), butter, garlic, tomatoes, onions, capsicums, paprika, chicken broth and sour cream
  • Cook your chicken pieces in some butter or lard
  • Once chicken is browned, take it out and throw in a couple of sliced onions and cook them in the fat until browned
  • Then add lots of fresh garlic and a couple of fresh tomatoes diced up (skin on) and a few capsicums sliced up
  • Cook all these tasty vegies for 5 mins till softened up
  • Then take your pot off the heat and add at least 4 tablespoons of paprika
  • Throw the chicken back into the pot, add chicken broth/stock until the chicken is just covered
  • Bring it all to the boil then reduce heat and simmer for half an hour
  • Lastly mix in half a cup of sour cream (if you want a thicker sauce then mix a few tablespoons of flour with the sour cream first)
  • Simmer for a few mins, salt and pepper and then serve it up!
Normally you have it with Hungarian nokedli which is a type of handmade egg noodle (German's have a similar thing called spaetzle) but it's very tasty on top of store bought cooked pasta, if you're not in the mood to make your own noodles or dumplings.
