Why would it not be granted? This is open court, not pre-trial stuff that is automatically excluded as per court rules.
The public interest is a given and considering Nick's behavior and attempts to shift blame I think there is a good reason why this should be very public.

It would also prevent people from showing up and potentially causing a scene at the court house or even during the hearing.
In general it is very much in the interest of the court to allow this.

Why not? The reason the court cited for not granting the first one is there's actually a rule against coverage of pretrial hearings and the court would have had to justify deviating from the rules. At the plea/sentencing phase there's no jury to be prejudiced.
