Live updates: Brush fire burns in Pacific Palisades as Santa Ana winds blast Southern California - Live video at link

It also has the most people and takes up as much space as the entire east coast megalopolis, so ok.. If you took 2/3rds of the east coast and made it into one state, what do you think that would look like?

Now that we’ve covered how aggregates work, let’s talk about trade balance IMG_7457.png

God damn, California sucks up twice as much as it puts out

A family friend had a house in an area with 0 fire danger, but plenty of huge Eucalyptus trees. Which would fall during winter storms. So he decided to remove a couple of the ones likely to take out his and a neighbors house. The city fought it, even outside of butterfly season. Finally he got a tree company to come out, write him a letter that they were immediately hazardous and had them removed.

I think they still fined him even though the law said that those sorts of trees could be removed. Still less of a problem than one of the trees taking out his house.

I expect the same thing would happen in any other city in California, even where they're a clear fire danger.

Its up there with the tree of heaven / tree of hell when it comes to resilience. Trees should be logged hardcore. Maybe it can work as fuel.
It's actually extremely useful timber, provided you dry it appropriately because it has all that nasty turboflammable sap. It's an extremely hard wood, significantly harder than oak. They have enormous plantations of it all over the world specifically for the timber. That's the only environment it should be present in outside of its native range.

I've also heard that timber companies do a better job managing their land these days than BLM (not the one that burns loots murders to buy large mansions, the other one) and state governments do. It's because the timber company is much more easily sued if they have a wildfire on their land while the government has bullshit ways to weasel their way out of liability for mismanaging forests. The government has too much red tape to properly manage their forests.

Can we slow down for 2 seconds

First things first is im not your enemy or trying to argue with you, lets try and have a discussion and we dont have to agree with each other but that allows us to possibly be productive

My only point im trying to make is that it seems people are rather unaware of how big Californias contribution to the United States government is because of its political perception

im not trying to '"win interment points for California" or something like that. Sure if you cram 13 states on the east coast together into one state it would be much bigger but whats the point of that argument? You think its going to happen?

know I agree with you 100% that the way California is being operated is deplorable and the party that is responsible for that is the democrats.

Do you just disagree with the numbers im posting or do you feel ive helped establish we do agree and its just the way Im framing this data could sould like Im coming at it from a lib perspective

also the way you use the imports/exports argument is just kinda wrong in this context. Imports can mean raw goods or finished products en route to another destination, its not a negative at all

California and government overreach. Name a more iconic duo.

That said, the nasty fires are completely their fault. And no amount of blaming muh climate is going to change that. Because unironically, if they simply allowed logging companies to do their job, that would create more work. But no, this is the land of the retarded tree hugger. Mind completely zapped with current year bullshit.

Blindly following talking heads as if it were holy truth. Nature is best understood. Not worshipped mindlessly.

So, it’s the thing where people say “California would be the fifth largest economy in the world by itself”

I’m trying to stop you right there and point out that that statement only works if you use government voodoo math like “ok all the credit card debt definitely counts as gdp, and if a plane flies over us and people on it have money in their pockets, technically that money moved through our state..”

At the end of the day, it’s just time for you to stop coping and start seething. Stop trying to paint that shitshow in a positive light like it’s gonna pull through. It’s not even going to admit it has a problem

its a state run by people who are devious and intelligent enough that they can spin concepts that make them money into something socially acceptable so it all passes. they know that the voters by and large are retarded and vote with their feelings so all they have to do is package whatever they want in a feel good way. its really the concept of politics as a whole these days which is why we have millions of literally borderline retarded illegal browns running around. our entire political system, from state to federal, is based on the manipulation of retards, whether it be dumb fucks on the left or dumb fucks on the right.

What is the purpose of hiding how bad the fires are? It's pretty obvious to the people of California who are directly affected, and it's already enough to kill the reelection chances of everyone who are supposed to take responsibility due to their position.
Because the only viable candidate the Democrats have in 2028 is Newsome and the true believers still buy the climate change nonsense

They
Thats a very good point.

Newsom branding himself as the resistance leader isnt going to work, the donor class are kissing trumps ring.

I honestly think that the intellegence services have there hands in the MSM, and they cant run the same playbook because it doesnt work.

Fuck if I was newsom I would be in front of the camera's denouncing "The politicization of this disaster" responding to the claims about the smelt, fuck gavin should go Adams Corollas podcast and do an hour like trump or Vance would do.

The real trick is to down play the DEI bullshit, as community engagement

Explain that large orginzations will have equipment thats out of commission for repair, maintence or decomissioned

Explain the failures in infrastructure and response, get some one to offer their scalp and resign.

The reclamation of the Klamath river, is fucking land stewardship.

And so on.

He could also use this as justification to pivot on trump policies, get the national guard on the streets, invite trumo to stand with him.

instead newsom wont be able to make it.
Honestly that's like a ballet dancer saying that Stephen Hawking should just do a split.

Sure in theory he could do these things, but he physically can't. He doesn't have the respect and leadership needed to recognize why this is a problem, and doesn't have the involvement to actually understand what is involved in the processes. He's nothing more then a pretty face in an empty suit, with zero understanding of the underlying mechanisms of the things his literal job has him making decisions on and requires him to be understanding.

But see, when you use a term like “gdp” it used to be understood to reflect the “p” in the term, you know? Like, product, as in, something made.

Now when you talk about California’s super huge gdp, you ought to bear in mind that public sector payrolls count toward that figure.

So let’s look at something more realler, like exports

View attachment 6861266
Oh dang, California’s exports account for 10% of that gdp figure

Pathetic
public sector is also 10% of its gdp

hard to tell cause I cant rewind the live news broadcast only pause. but they zoom in, 95% of whats on the screen is a total loss if not ruin.
Yeah that's a total loss. I only see one little building standing in the corner, but everything else looks completely ruined. That death toll of 16 is gonna slowly go up in the next few weeks to months.

I expect the same thing would happen in any other city in California, even where they're a clear fire danger.
This is exactly the problem. There is nobody more conservative than a fucking state full of liberals.

There's an entire subculture in CA for "guerrilla treewars" where you can quietly arrange for blackops to kill trees that otherwise you can't get permission to touch.

It's fucking insane.

Kudzu has beneficial applications and tumbleweeds are mostly climate locked, so Eucalyptus by a country mile.
Kudzu and tumbleweed are both grazing material for goats (unsure about sheep). Eucalyptus is edible but offers very little nutritional content.

Any way you slice it, eucalyptus is the worst
