To me, the only real way to end this nonsense and stop letting people like Musk grift people is to end the culture war. So much of this stuff stems from it, all "based" or "cringe" means is whether or not he's on my side of the culture war. Problem is, I don't see a total right wing victory so the right would probably have to stop calling trannies pedophiles. I know that's an incredibly hard sell in the general conciousness, let alone here, so..

The way I see it ending is if Trump really does do what he promised, it's going to be similar to when the Republicans did shit in the 00s, which lead to the 2008 recession. 20% tariffs on all imports and deporting every illegal immigrant is going to lead to some insane inflation and a recession. This would lead to more people maybe realizing that Musk, Trump and the other right-wing grifters are retarded and only want to line their own pockets at their expense. It happened around 2008 but then people forgot about it after there was a black president and hopped right back on the grift train. Maybe if that happens people will see that billionaires are not their friend

It's also possible Trump was lying and won't do what he said.

There is fucking way that Hillary could have lost against Trump without the general consensus that we need to change teams every two terms. She was a shit candidate, absolutely, but Trump should have had zero shot and yet meme magic took him all the way. Meanwhile, Kamala seemed like a test to see if "I'm not Trump" would work a second time, I mean she made Hillary look like Reagan in comparison.

I love video games, but I don't think I would ever claim to be "good" at video games. Maybe it's different for someone who likes multiplayer games, but my approach is to launch a new Assassin's Creed (or whatever) title, start a new game on Normal difficulty, and play it until it's done or I'm tired of it, however long it takes. Skill-wise, I'm probably about average, and that's fine, because I'm getting what I want to get out of it.

Everyone has to do their own thing, but to me the whole minmaxing, geet-gudd approach seems like the most joyless, grim experience imaginable. I have a hard time putting myself in the mindset of someone who's so desperate for geek approval that he'll risk it all to lie about being good at games that, from what I can tell, he mostly plays solo (because this all would surely have come out a lot earlier if he were a big multiplayer guy).

Video games are like any other activity and takes a large time investment to become good at them, especially multiplayer games. Time Elon doesn't have that time, so he will never be good enough to be what he claims to be. Especially with grindy games like PoE2

If he had just stopped at "Yeah I like a few games, I play Diablo 2 and a few others" he would have had the attention and acceptance of majority of gamers, but Elon couldn't do that, his ego is such he just can't be something, he has to claim to be the best in pretty much everything he does. My theory is that Elon Musk has hired a defacto PR agency like Mark Zuckerberg has to make him "more relatable" to people and not be an "evil CEO" type person. I say defacto because he may have hired actual humans/internet people instead of a company/agency like Mark Zuckerberg obviously has.

I read a book called "The Space Merchants" by Frederik Pohl, and as an Elon A-Log, it was a delight. It's about an Advertising Executive in a futuristic hyper-Corporatist America that has to manipulate society into desiring (a la Edward Bernays) a colonial project on Venus, and hilarity and adventure ensues. It doesn't seem that big-brained or forward thinking of a premise, until you contextualize that it was published in 1952.
