Pirate's voice is deeper than the old clips at comic con, there is too much evidence for him to just ask everybody to filter his voice up. (just go back through the thread, you'll find them)

A much more likely explanation is voice training, because beyond that, "natural voice drops" above 30 year old only happens in pooners and eunuchs who start TRT.

Many will disagree, and that’s fine, but I’m still not entirely convinced that he uses a voice modulator. He absolutely, without a doubt, processes his voice to absolute hell, but I’m not sure if he would go as far as to get vocal surgery, or maintain the same fake voice for his 12 hour streams, as even a trained voice could get tired after that long.
On the other hand, I couldn’t find any convincing or reliable evidence that suggests this is a possible phenomenon/side effect from COVID. In my opinion, it’s up in the air at the moment.

It is a bit odd that he's straining and out of breath when he makes public appearances though. He can yap and spew for 12 hours on a stream without gasping, but the second he's in person it seems a bit forced.

I think the voice is a combination of all the basic tricks in the book:

1. Voice training for a good reliable baseline, guided professionally and/or from pooner girlfriend
2. Eat the mic as much as possible to take advantage of the proximity effect
3. Bass boost when you have control to really sell the deep voice brand and ease up on the need for the trained voice

You can see this happen in the specific ways it fails, namely the voice being just a tad lighter outside of the stream because the bass boost isn't there and it's all on training. Others pointing out how heavily he breathes, particularly off stream, also indicates he's relying on training more heavily when other tricks aren't available.

What makes me most confident here is that one clip where he drops something and you hear an "oh shit!" in what is mostly the old nerd voice because the brief panic made him drop the training and he was leaning away from the mic which loses the proximity effect.

Jason hyper-focuses on the most extreme voice changer allegations to obfuscate from the more reasonable explanation that he's doing his darndest not to let his natural voice come through with less extreme means.
This is similar to hyper-focusing on specific SKG arguments which are easy to beat (are you saying you want developers to keep an unprofitable game up forever?) to obfuscate from more reasonable ones (please have a EoL plan which at least publishes the server schematic).
You can see it with the roach drama when he hyper-focuses on a scarce few death threats to obfuscate from the vast majority of the response being silly memes like "roach" and "mana gem", let alone the legitimate criticism.

There's a lot of annoyingly consistent repeating patterns with Jason's behavior that you notice pretty quickly when you start scrutinizing him, to the point where you can use those patterns to predict future actions. I think most people didn't like him but didn't know why. I remember I saw one of his videos for the first time and thought he had a point but didn't know what point he was making, but by the second video something told me the guy was off and I didn't trust him. I ended up watching him a couple days later and figured he was one of the Tai Lopez types where they say they know something, and make it look like they do, but never make any point and always claim it will be in the next video or whatever.

I'm guessing most people got an off feeling from him but didn't know what to make of it, and when they had a reason to express it, they did even if that reason doesn't really matter to them in itself.
