Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

I mean yeah? While the Clans had all the advantage the IS had to pull everything out of their ass to stop them and there not a firm believer of "Muh Honor." and if you thought that whole initial spam of mechs where bad imagine facing of against Comstar forces during the Battle of Tukayyid.
Even before that Luthien wasn't exactly a pleasant fight for the Clans with Hanse Davion (who was Takashi Kurita's single biggest foe) hiring the Kell Hounds (on House Kurita's kill-on-sight list even before the Death to Mercenaries Order) and Wolf's Dragoons (on House Kurita's kill-on-sight-and-salt-the-ashes list thanks to being the reason for said Death to Mercenaries Order) to go save the day: the most unthinkable team up in BattleTech outside of Kerensky and Amaris deciding to go halfsies on the Inner Sphere.

Hanse Davion and Takashi Kurita were simultaneously foes and friends. They were pen pals even when they were at war and when Kurita's wife came down with cancer, she was treated at the most advanced medical facility not located on Terra: The New Avalon Institute of Science.

Takashi's real hate-boner was for Jaime Wolf. He had an archer set up in the palace garden and painted to look exactly like Jaime Wolf's and he would go out there and just fucking stare at it whenever he got a free moment.

Oh yeah, it was professional and not personal between Hanse and Takashi, but that doesn't change the fact even during the Clan Invasion he still kept the odd eye on Hanse to make sure he wasn't doing anything despite his promise to keep FedCom troops out of the Combine. It would be just his style to swoop in and claim some systems under the guise of "protecting them from the Clans" if the DCMS was otherwise occupied. Now, Hanse being Hanse the DCMS would absolutely be otherwise occupied at the time through no fault of his own so he could honestly claim he was protecting them when nobody else could, but he wouldn't exactly hand them back afterwards unless Takashi felt like making him.

Its a damn shame Omiko was assassinated on his sister's orders because VSD was quite ready to bury the hatchet between their two realms by marrying her. After all, he had already buried his spear in her more than a few times, leading to the later hilarity of the Black Dragon Society all offing themselves in shame when Kitsune Kurita declared he was half-Davion when they tried to put him on the throne. You'd think the name would have been a dead giveaway or something though...

Also, as to the Archer, it was only put up after Hanse had his heart attack. Takashi was a man who wouldn't know what to do without an enemy to fight, and so in his own words: "The Fox is gone now. All I have left is the Wolf."

Pity the warrior who has slain all his foes.

I finally got confirmation that CGL was sending my stuff from the kickstarter despite backing it on day 1 and paying for everything early. It’s par for the course with how dogshit CGL has been as of late. People at my LGS usually just print everything now because the plastics and resin have been ass. The resin clanbuster black knight is a good example of that because it’s just a recast of the IWM one but with that resin they make their premium mechs with.

I keep thinking about writing stuff for a post-3067 setting, really just for myself because my group basically broke up in the last six months, but I doubt I'll have time to really do it between work, home life stuff, and going back to grad school starting next week.

Write for like, 10+ minutes a day, reread it the next day, rewrite it if you need to the following day, little by little. What I do with how little time I have. Unrelated, I've stepped back from everything related to Battletech as my interest started to fade (no one to play with will do that to you, also Clans was shit as expected) and I just found out (even though it's old news) that the Pride Anthology is still a thing despite the shitshow behind the scenes. I am not at all surprised. Aside from that, anything recent that's worth looking into?

Shit dude, we should throw down. I've probably promised like 3 different people to play megamek or mechwarrior games, including you, but we should try to. I will one day, eventually.
I'd definitely be down for either, I'd have to really start studying how to play decently if we're going megamek, not so much any other Mechwarrior game...except maybe Living Legends but I haven't touched that in years.

From the makers of Battletech Extended, comes an addon called "Tactics." I wonder if it'll fuck my PC like a whore like Roguetech does.
Reading the notes there, I really don't see any reason not to stay with MegaMek -- it's a bot-enabled "TT" BattleTech game that doesn't have unsolvable memory leak errors built into the source code.

I feel that's a fair trade for 2D sprite graphics -- TT is all about imagination anyway.

This is news to me, not sure if posted but PGI is going through 2 rounds of layoffs.

Can't zoom in for some reason (502 error if I open the attachment in a new tab) but man, MW Clans must not have done well then? I haven't touched it cause by hook or by crook, I'm waiting for mods and roguelite "career" mode.

Probably a mixture of lackluster sales and the publisher that owns them wanting to cut costs, EG7 is one of those publishers that sucks up smaller dev teams and then kills them off for some Godforsaken reason. I expect PGI's continued existence to be entirely reliant on how much money MWO is bringing in.

Which isn't too much, maybe enough income to keep the servers running but not much after that, maybe just enough more to make simple DLC by reusing assets. Speaking of MWO I was playing it while BTE was installing and MAN do people love chasing the white rabbit. What that means is that my light mech ass is hanging out in the back, one mech sees me because I'm not running stealth, and then half the team starts chasing me. I had 2 assaults and all the medium mechs chasing me, 12-4 just because people started memeing with alpha striking until they overheat because there was no chance we'd lose.

well neither MW5 nor it's DLC did really well.

Sure MW5 sold decently but not a major hit like they were hoping and it seems the Clans DLC went over very poorly. It makes sense the CEO's want to trim the fat a bit. I bet any further MW5 DLC's are now on hold so why keep the dev team on staff?

Pretty sure the last DLC was said to be...well, the last DLC. So they were really hitching their bets on Clans selling well. Hopefully their contract is up soon and someone better can start making BT games-oh who am I kidding?

I mean mw5 felt like a tech demo
Shooting was fun customization was ok, but mission sucked balls and story was non existant
Clans has its problem but at least it feels like a game

Yeah that perfectly sums it up. The story is either just in consequence and a waste of development time or mind numbingly retarded like the last mission. Yeah you can definitely take on wave after wave of Comguard, never mind that you'll totally not get blasted from orbit first. The missions are just dogshit and a power fantasy (which isn't surprising), and I hear it's relatively the same if not worse in Clans.

Isn't that rather infamously how BattleTech the vidya does it?
Expected opposition at mission briefing: One and a half lances, mixed medium-heavy
Reality in mission: Three lances of heavies.

At least Mechwarrior 3 was somewhat conscious of that particular problem. In one mission you are informed that one off-map soldier survived and one of your lancemates ask "can't he support us with his Arrow IV artillery?" and the other lancemate, a notorius jokster, answers "Not without a TAG unit. Otherwise Keith is as accurate as our strategist is with his predictions. No offense"
