Battletech - Also known as Trannytech

Part of me and I think all fans ask what it? If the clans weren't pants on head they could have had terra 3055 roughly but they are.
This would've been the best way to handle Ilclan imo. Show that Alaric recognizes the clans are no longer the strongest tech base, has learned from the failings of the Clan Invasion and Wars of Reaving, and has remade his clan's military doctrine from the ground up to reflect that. Have his wins be a result of actually being smart and taking advantage of the inner sphere's expectations and flaws instead of just getting lucky every time. Hell, maybe have some other clans call him dezgra for daring to fight on spheroid terms, which would've made his victory as Ilclan all the sweeter because now those clans are forced to follow his example. This could create both intrigue with clans who clearly don't like his new ideology, and also create an actually believable threat because now we have a clanner faction that isn't held back by their old culture-based weaknesses.

Legalize nuclear bombs.

The problem is that the hardline traditional Clans are basically dead. The Falcons are just a small group of flappy birds now while the Ravens, Foxes and even the Horses are pragmatic Clans. None of them will actually accuse Alaric of being a "dezgra surat coward" unless they realize what he really is (a non Clan bloodline vat experiment) or that he killed a helpless old man in bed.
The only actual resistance he is experiencing so far is within his own clan where the hardliners are already demanding that the SLDf either disbands or stays small (but where the actual new wolf warriors are supposed to come from is conveniently left out). Makes me wish the Free worlds League nukes every genetic depository they find in the Empire

Some of the clan splits are interesting. They still have strong warrior caste it even the faction favs clan yiff yiff split.

I still wouldn't mind a few more bad things happen to the Jade parrots.

Oof. I haven't seen a turkey shoot this bad since the Diamond Sharks landed in Tukayyid.
Funny part is we were shitposting about the autistic reporting system (someone got banned for 3 days recently and only just came back, fun fact, you can get banned for not calling out properly) while doing this too. Same with the prior round.
"I just headshot that Direwolf"
"Reported for harrassment"
"Reported for reporting on reports"
"Don't worry guys I reported myself"

On the other hand, if a mech is built around an auto cannon, making it heart neutral is pathermtically easy. Even with jump jets.
Trouble is its pretty easy with lasers, too. I ran the numbers in this thread and even with SHS a large laser can be made heat neutral just as easily. An AC/10 is 12 tons and 7 crits for three heat a shot, so that's 15 tons and 10 crits in total. A large laser is 5 tons and two crits for eight heat, so that's 13 tons and 10 crits. Now you do lose some damage, but you don't need to worry about tons and crits from carrying ammo or that ammo exploding on you, and those heat sinks are all crits that can be rolled on instead of something more valuable like a 7 crit autocannon or its exploding ammo.

Now yes, that's the AC/10, probably the worst weapon in the game when you math it out, but even an AC/5 is 8 tons and four crits for one heat, so 9 tons and five crits in total, and you gain three hexes in range and lose three points in damage, and again, you're going to need to add in the ammo.

LosTech really helps out the autocannons a ton though, with a single DHS balancing out a double-fired UAC/5 for a total of ten tons and 8 crits, blowing the large laser out of the water in terms of range and damage even with the ammo needs, and even the ERLL starts looking dicey since it still only has 8 damage and one hex less range than the AC/5 for a staggering 12 heat that's going to need six DHS to counter.
Starting? I've been sick of it the moment the term "ilKhan" was first put to paper.
Hasn't it dated to the OG Clan Invasion though?

Isn't that what Malvina Hazen and her Mongol Doctrine did for Alaric by clearing the way to Terra, only for him to take advantage of how hated she and the Falcons were and turn literally everyone against them?

The initial ilClan stuff isn't terrible and actually makes a bit of sense, but its everything else afterwards that has Alaric's enemies all start chewing on lead paint chips.

If I had to do the ilKhan I would have done it something like the Wolf and Falcons take half of their forces to Terra. The other half have no idea what's going on except that they are left on their own and the IS states hammer them and just start taking world after world. In time, the clans left behind are destroyed.

The GB civil war is long and drawn out and ends in exhaustion and that's when the Dragon and Horses both curb stomp the Bears.

The Wolf and Falcons compete for Terra, but LOOK OUT! just when it looks like the Wolves are going to win the hidden WoB remnant shows up because how dare those heretic Clanners touch the soil of Holy Terra. The Ravens show up en masse, but at the end of the day the WoB is finally destroyed, Wolf wins, but Terra is a cinder, and there is constant rebellion and the Clans can't figure out how to deal with the locals, the Ravens fleet is all but destroyed, and even though Alaric won, nobody outside of Terra cares at all. When he says he's the ilKhan, the Horses, the bears, and the Foxes all say "that's nice", the Falcons, Ravens, and Wolves are spent and because Terra is wrecked and the clans no longer have any infrastructure and the warriors are not engineers, they can't rebuild. Not to mention the Wolf Empire and JF area no longer exist. In short, Alaric won, but he ended up all but destroying the IS clans in the process.

And that's when Liao attacks...

They should have ended Ilclan with Alaric visiting Stone and in his las moments Stone whispers "And so it begins" and soon after Alaric recieves an urgent message that the wall generator in Antartica was destroyed (something that almost happened in IKEO)

Honestly not sure what to do, so many options and I love dicking around with the mech. I should remember to get one in my next Battletech run...and maybe Megamek once I get more used to playing Assaults without being a tard. Also sorry for not participating in the lore much, admittedly I tend to read them sporadically so I misremember or straight up don't remember a lot of details, rather not look like a fool trying to throw my hat into good discussions and ruin them.

Wouldn't CASE be redundant on a XL engine? And endo better to use than FF?

Seriously, though. The whole Clan Invasion was cockeyed as hell. Entertaining, sure, but it was clear they wanted an external threat, didn't want aliens, and kinda just flew by the seat of their pants and hoped nobody would crunch the numbers. Still better than Jihad and beyond, but there's a reason the FedCom Civil War is my favorite time period.

The lore problem with the Clans to me is exemplified in how they lost 'taking Earth' in the first push. I get the point of them as a group that's gone through massive hardship and is forced to change themselves to survive. That's great. The 'saviors of humanity's true nature' considering most/all of said nature abhorrent? That's maybe understandable as a kind of irony.

But okay. The ilKhan gets merked by almost random chance. A dedicated warrior society that goes 'woah woah, our rituals demand we go the fuck home and figure out who takes over'? Not getting the concept of battlefield promotions? Similarly yeah, your ritualized combat is designed to reduce waste of resources, but being shocked (as highlighted in MW5:c repeatedly) that the enemy destroys things you're going to capture? A military concept that's only been a thing for thousands of years. Sure you guys don't do it but aren't you supposed to be educated your whole life about this stuff? It would've been far more logical for Showers or whoever to get up and do a Sportpalast Speech at the kickoff. "This is total war against the dezgra Houses, we must conduct this war differently." Unless the inflexibility is in fact 'the joke' by the writers.

Anyway, that's bugged me for decades.

Edit: lmao emoji. Not changing it.

"This is total war against the dezgra Houses, we must conduct this war differently."

It always amuses me immensely that the Star Adders did that and more.
"Guys, let's use the information the Plot Armoured Wolf Goons sent us from the IS to prepare mock battles"
"Guys, logistics are important."
"Guys, what if we take all the Clans for REVIVAL. And we plan occupation and garrison duties. And we cooperate and pool our resources."

And then they get cut off from everything because the Clans are written to be essentially retarded pitbulls that need to be put down (bar Clan Wolf that will win always and forever because it has Wolf in the name). But again, everything in Btech is retarded and it's simply to create a setup for your minis. Clans are beyond retarded the more you read about them, their society is essentially contrary to common sense.

Yeah I realized that after I had my first match, I was like "wait a second, why do I have CASE?" But I decided to switch to a Standard Engine due to the sides being easy to hit on a KC so after some work dicking around I'll keep the CASE. And I'll switch between Endo and FF depending on my setup and remaining slots. Imagine running stealth on a KC, that would be funny.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure empty ammo bins can't get crit so having half tons just increases your chance of an ammo explosion. Be careful though since in the lower tier matches people will face tank and RACs shit out damage so you might end up boosting yourself running this.
