edit: given the rate of advancement in Donetsk for the past few months, along with adjacent reporting indicating Ukraine is suffering from a lack of front line troops, my assessment is Ukraine simply does not have the manpower to sustain such an extended front any longer, and are essentially giving up the rest of Donetsk south of Pokrovsk and falling back to the Dnepr Oblast border. The fall of Khurakovo and now the besieging of Velikaya Novosyolka were the final nails in the coffin of the South Donetsk front for Ukraine.

Russia seems to have started using an interesting new tactic in their cruise missile strikes.

(Could be an older tactic previously used, but it’s the first time I see it mentioned anyways.)



Kalibr and KH101 missiles were launched from a mixture of ships and bombers, but while they were en route to their targets and started to get lit up by Ukrainian radars, they started circling in holding patterns, and SU57’s showed up to take care of the exposed radars.



Instead of flying straight to their targets, Russian cruise missiles change course several times to confuse air defenses.









The strikes were aimed at energy infrastructure, much of it in the deep west of Ukraine, airfields, and military facilities.

Needless to say, losing any more air defenses is something the Hohols can’t afford at this point. And btw: So much for the tired old “If the SU57 is so awesome, then how come they don’t use it in Ukraine?!?”
